DRIVING REGULATIONS FOR DRIVING ON THE NÜRBURGRING AS PART OF THE CYCLING & RUNNING MEET
Status: January 2025
The Nürburgring (Nordschleife and/ or Grand Prix Track) will be open to runners and cyclists on event and test-free days as part of the cycling and running club. The provisions of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) apply to these rides, unless otherwise specified below.
§ 1 - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
- Riding on the Nürburgring is only allowed for bicycles or e-bikes that comply with the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO).
- There is a light obligation analogous to the STVZO, as well as a helmet obligation for cyclists.
- Each participant must be in possession of a valid ticket of the Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG (hereinafter "NG") for the cycling and running event with the corresponding date, except for children up to and including 17 years of age. They can participate free of charge and do not need a ticket.
- The NG reserves the right to exclude bicycles or e-bikes with visually recognizable defects from the bike and run meeting. Claims for compensation cannot be derived from this.
- Children up to and including 17 years of age may only participate if accompanied by an adult.
§ 2 - USE OF THE NÜRBURGRING
- The entry to the Nürburgring, as well as the exit, may only be made through the designated and marked places.
- The Nürburgring is a one-way street and is signposted accordingly. It is driven exclusively in clockwise direction.
- Bicycles, e-bikes and runners must use the roadway. The right-hand driving rule applies. Overtaking is only permitted on the left. Drifting is prohibited.
- Driving against the direction of travel, as well as turning is prohibited on the entire Nürburgring.
- The posted safety rules and instructions must be expressly observed.
§ 3 - LIABILITY AND DAMAGES
- The participant takes part in the cycling and running event at the Ring at his own risk. By submitting this declaration, the participant declares the waiver of claims of any kind for damages arising in connection with the cycling and running event, in particular against Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG and all other persons connected with the organization of the event, the vicarious agents of all aforementioned persons and entities, except for damages resulting from injury to life, body or health, which are based on a deliberate or negligent breach of duty by the aforementioned persons and bodies - including a legal representative or a vicarious agent of the group of persons liable - and except for other damages which are based on a deliberate or grossly negligent breach of duty by the aforementioned persons and bodies - including a legal representative or a vicarious agent of the group of persons liable. The exclusion of liability agreement shall become effective vis-à-vis all parties involved upon submission of this declaration of non-liability. The waiver of liability shall apply to claims based on any legal grounds, in particular to claims for damages based on both contractual and non-contractual liability and also to claims based on tort. Tacit exclusions of liability shall remain unaffected by the above exclusion of liability clause.
- Accidents, technical defects as well as damage to the roadway, the verges, the fencing, the crash barriers or other facilities of the Nürburgring must be reported immediately to the staff of the NG. Violations will be reported as hit-and-run accidents.
§ 4 - NOISE / ENVIRONMENT
- Any damage to the environment must be reported immediately to the track management.
§ 5 - OTHER
- Driving on the steep section, as well as on the rescue and supply roads, is prohibited.
- Instructions from NG personnel must be strictly followed.
- Photography, film and video recordings during the cycling and running sessions are strictly prohibited. Exceptions to this rule require explicit approval from NG.
Participants according to § 1 who do not wish to be photographed or filmed by third parties (including commercial photographers) while riding on the Nürburgring must indicate their objection by attaching a visible sign to the seat post of their bicycle before entering the track. - The track may be closed at any time without prior notice due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., accidents, weather conditions, track conditions, etc.). No compensation claims can be made as a result.
