Two legendary endurance races, twice a whole weekend of action, twice the best endurance drivers and teams as a full assembly: this is what fans can experience this year at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (May 30 - June 2) and the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa (June 26 - 30). The two traditional events have put together a special package for their visitors this year and are offering the combination of the two four-day tickets (valid Thursday - Sunday) at a special price: the package is included for €126.65 (instead of €149 when the individual prices are added together). As a special gift for the most loyal 24h fans, each ticket also comes with an exclusive lanyard. The package can be ordered immediately via the dedicated ticket store. If you like endurance racing, you will of course already know and love the two endurance classics: both the 24h Nürburgring and the traditional event in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, shine with superlatives and are also held on unique natural race tracks. In both cases, fans can look forward to action-packed events and large, diverse starting fields around the circuit. Nürburgring: local heroes won in 2023 with a record-breaking driveThe Nürburgring hosts the world's largest field of entrants in an international circuit race: the organizing ADAC Nordrhein expects 130 touring cars and GTs to compete for victories and seconds in the numerous competition classes on the world's longest (and for many, most beautiful) race track again this year. At the front: dozens of beefy GT3 cars battling it out for overall victory. At this year's 52nd edition, the successor to the reigning winning team will be sought. The local heroes of the Frikadelli Racing Team won the fastest 24-hour race of all time at the Nürburgring in 2023: Earl Bamber, Nick Catsburg, David Pittard and Felipe Fernandez Laser raced around the 25-km circuit a whopping 162 times in the Ferrari 296 GT3 and also set a new distance record of 4,111.236 km. Spa: Well-known GT3 stars are defending champions at the 100th anniversary eventThe CrowdStrike 24h Hours of Spa is regarded as the biggest pure GT race in the world. In June, 70 cars will battle day and night for supremacy on the seven-kilometre circuit - and it will be under special circumstances. The 2023 winners, the Rowe Racing team, who are also well known at the Ring, will be defending their title in the BMW M4 GT3 at the 100th edition of the classic. Whoever succeeds the reigning winners Marco Wittmann, Philipp Eng and Nick Yelloly can immortalize themselves in the motorsport annals in a special way. The two classics in Germany and Belgium therefore promise the very finest motorsport just one month apart. The best prospects for an exciting summer with a combined ticket for two endurance festivals.

Nürburgring publishes 2024 endurance racing dates

13.10.2023

The Nürburgring is giving a first preview of the 2024 season, and fans and teams of the popular endurance motorsport on the legendary Nordschleife can pull out their calendars. Because in addition to the date for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (May 30 to June 2, 2024), which has already been fixed for some time, the provisional dates for the popular formats of an endurance series and the Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring (RCN) are now also fixed. As usual, the Nürburgring will present the entire event calendar for next year at the Essen Motor Show at the beginning of December. The challenges of the most demanding race track in the world are among the special fascinations in motorsport - for professionals, amateurs and fans alike. The endurance motor racing races lasting several hours have always been part of the Nürburgring DNA. That's why many horsepower enthusiasts mark the dates in their calendars well in advance and plan their vacations and free time accordingly. And the racing teams try to plan their entries as early as possible - either at the various races at the Nürburgring or taking into account the international racing calendar. Four-day motorsport festival at the 24h NürburgringNo matter what the respective focus is - planning security plays an important role for the teams. This is also why the Nürburgring already announced in 2021 together with the ADAC Nordrhein, as the organizer of the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, that the current contract would be extended early until 2028. The date of the highlight for 2024 was accordingly fixed early. Fans can look forward to a four-day motorsport festival in the Green Hell again next year. The 52nd edition of the endurance classic will take place from Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, 2024, with the dress rehearsal taking place a good month beforehand - the associated ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers from April 13 to 14, 2024. One race every month - nine dates for endurance seriesAs usual, the coming motorsport year will kick off with the test and set-up day. The first testing opportunity on the combination of Grand Prix circuit and Nordschleife will be on Saturday, March 16, 2024, when the teams taking part in the various races at the Nürburgring can prepare for the tasks ahead. The "warm-up" will be followed each month by fixed dates for an endurance series and for the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge (RCN). From March to October, the operators of the Nürburgring have taken into account the dates here, planning ahead with the respective season highlights. Thus, for an endurance series after the season opener on March 23, 2024, a 12-hour race or a double header (13 - 15.09.2024) can also take place. On this date, Sunday has already been reserved in addition to the usual race Saturday. The season finale is scheduled for October 12. Popular sport in the Green Hell: Nürburgring Circuit Challenge No racing series better represents the fact that the Nürburgring is also the home of popular sport than the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge. In this context, the entry-level series is called GLP - a regularity test whose regulations allow drivers to start with a street-legal vehicle. The goal is consistency. The participants must repeat their submitted lap time as accurately as possible in the subsequent confirmation laps. The next stage is the so-called performance test, the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge. This must be contested with a race-ready car and with at least the DMSB license A. In addition to a points system based on the lap times driven, there is also the 3-hour "Schwedenkreuz" race at the end of the season, which is counted as the eighth race. There the participants can gain their first racing experience. The dates for these popular formats have now also been set well in advance of the start of the season. The green light for the start of the RCN / GLP 2024 will be given at the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifier on the second weekend in April. The RCN will celebrate another appearance as usual in the context of the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. In October, there will be a double-header of the circuit challenge: on Sunday, October 13, and on Saturday, October 26, with the 3h race as the season's crowning finale. Overview of all provisional endurance motorsport dates in 2024: Tryout and set-up session: 16.03.2024 Endurance series: 23.03.2024 Endurance series: 06.04.2024 ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers with RCN / GLP: 13. - 14.04.2024 RCN / GLP: 27.04.2024 Endurance series: 04.05.2024 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring with RCN: 30.05. - 02.06.2024 Endurance series: 22.06.2024 RCN / GLP: 29.06.2024 Endurance series: 06.07.2024 Endurance series: 03.08.2024 RCN / GLP: 04.08.2024 RCN / GLP: 31.08.2024 Endurance series: 13 - 15.09.2024 Endurance series: 12.10.2024 RCN / GLP: 13.10.2024 GLP: 25.10.2024 RCN 3h race: 26.10.2024

New date for the 24h Nürburgring 2024

23.06.2023

The 24h Nürburgring will take place on the weekend of Corpus Christi in 2024 (30 May to 2 June). This was announced today by the organising ADAC Nordrhein. The rescheduling had become necessary because a round of the FIA WEC in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, had been scheduled at short notice for the Ascension weekend at the beginning of May, which had already been planned for years. For many teams and drivers, the overlap of the two events would have posed hardly solvable problems, as the FIA World Endurance Championship will also announce a class for the GT3 cars that have been competing at the Nürburgring for years from 2024. "We didn't want to impose this on our participants, nor on the endurance fans," said Walter Hornung, race director of the 24h Nürburgring. "Since the organisers of Rock am Ring and also the Nürburgring have been extremely flexible, we were able to make the postponement possible." Rock am Ring will take place as planned on 7 to 9 June 2024, but the set-up and dismantling times of the two mega-events, which now take place in immediate succession, had to be drastically shortened.  "Precisely because we know how complex the coordination with other series and individual events in GT3 racing is, we have already announced 2021 to 2028 dates for the 24h Nürburgring," says Walter Hornung. "Of course, all the relevant players are aware of this so that scheduling overlaps in the international calendar are avoided and collisions with other major events at the same venue are prevented. We are all the happier that Rock am Ring and the Nürburgring are joining us in taking on the short-term logistical and technical challenge of having two completely different events, each with tens of thousands of spectators, take place one right after the other." Advance sales for Rock am Ring have already opened at www.rock-am-ring.com, and tickets for the 24h Nürburgring 2024 will also be available shortly at www.24h-rennen.de.

Emotional premiere victory for Frikadelli and Ferrari

21.05.2023

Emotional double premiere at the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring: The Frikadelli team won the "Eifel Marathon" for the first time and thus also gave Ferrari its first success at the endurance classic. After 24 hours through the "Green Hell", the Briton David Pittard steered the new Ferrari 296 GT3 of the local heroes across the finish line in first place. Together with Earl Bamber, Nick Catsburg and Felipe Fernandez Laser, he also set a distance record: Never before had a winning team completed 162 laps since the race's premiere in 1970. After 4,085.858 kilometres, the Frikadelli-Ferrari had a 26.911-second lead over the Rowe-BMW #98. The previous record was 159 laps of 4,035.102 kilometres from 2014 and 2022. The weekend was overshadowed by the death of a sporting director who collapsed during his stint on Sunday morning and passed away despite immediate medical attention and transport to the hospital in Mayen. "The blood pressure is maybe a bit high at the moment, but of course I'm feeling very good now. We'll have a Kölsch tonight," said Frikadelli team owner Klaus Abbelen in the initial exuberance immediately after the success. "I don't know what to say. I'm just incredibly proud of everyone. This is my first really big success. Sabine Schmitz has helped us from heaven. I'm also very happy for dear Klaus," Fernandez Laser said. "Unbelievable, what a victory," Nick Catsburg declared. For the Dutchman, it was already the second victory after 2020, back then still in the Rowe BMW. A premiere is the jump on the top step of the podium for his teammates Felipe Fernadez Laser, the Briton David Pittard and Earl Bamber from New Zealand, who has already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice and the 24 Hours of Spa once. In the Rowe BMW #98, Marco Wittmann and Sheldon van der Linde took second place in the "Eifel Marathon", as they had done in 2021. This time they were supported by Maxime Martin and Dries Vanthoor, who had triumphed in an Audi in 2022. The podium was completed by Raffaele Marciello, Luca Stolz and Philip Ellis in the #4 from Mercedes-AMG Team Bilstein. A total of 235,000 spectators watched the endurance classic over the weekend. The 52nd edition of the 24h Nürburgring will take place from 9 to 12 May 2024. Duel since sunrise Since sunrise, the Frikadelli-Ferrari and the Rowe-BMW #98 had taken turns at the top due to the pit stop difference of two laps. Adjusted, however, there was a clear advantage for the Ferrari crew, which had only lost a little time in the early stages due to a puncture a few kilometres before the pits. The #98, on the other hand, had only started the race from 31st place after a run-out in the top qualifying 1, but then worked its way into the leading group after only a few hours with a faultless performance. The Frikadelli-Ferrari made its last pit stop 61 minutes before the end of the 24 hours. With 44 minutes to go, Dries Vanthoor took to the track just under a minute behind, but was unable to make a decisive move. "In the end, we can be totally satisfied. We started from 31st place and therefore in the last row of our starting group. To be honest, we never thought we would get so far ahead," said Wittmann. "But when you are so close to victory in the last third of the race, you want to win. But the Ferrari is too fast for that. We didn't make any mistakes in the race and therefore have nothing to reproach ourselves for." The best Porsche in the final classification was the #96 from Rutronik in fifth place, the best-placed model from Ingolstadt was the #39 Land Audi in sixth. The revival of the three former DTM champions Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Scheider and Martin Tomczyk in the #40 Scherer-PHX Audi ended in twelfth place. It was also the last 24-hour race of outgoing team boss Ernst Moser, who celebrated six overall victories with Phoenix at the "Eifel Marathon". Mapelli in the Abt Lamborghini the man of the first laps After Marciello had initially maintained the pole position he had fought for on Friday evening and led the field onto the Nordschleife in first place, Marco Mapelli was the man of the first laps. The Italian in the Abt Lamborghini #27 initially moved up from third to second at the start and also overtook Marciello on the third lap. In doing so, he immediately gave Abbots the first lead laps on their 24h return with the new manufacturer. An early puncture, however, set the team back significantly soon afterwards, and in the end it was enough for ninth place. Turbulent night with the premature end for several candidates for victory Up to the halfway point of the race, there were some interesting duels, but even as darkness fell, there were hardly any major incidents. The numerous fans around the Nordschleife created a great atmosphere with the smell of barbecue, music and the usual bizarre set-ups at the popular hotspots such as Hatzenbach, Brünnchen or Schwalbenschwanz. In the early morning, events came to a head when several of the winners left the race early within a short period of time. For example, the two Scherer-PHX-Audi with the #1 and the #5 spun off the track almost synchronously on an oil track, the sister car with the #16 threw a time penalty of 4:36 minutes for a total of three flag violations far behind. The Rowe-BMW #99 retired after a collision while lapping, later the Junior-BMW #72 was also withdrawn due to suspension damage. The "Grello" also retired early - the #911 Manthey Porsche kept having problems after an early puncture. Mercedes-AMG lost the #3 around Maro Engel, who started from the front row, early on.

Double pole for Mercedes AMG at the 24h-race

19.05.2023

Mercedes-AMG secured the complete front row of the grid at the 51st ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring. Raffaele Marciello put the #4 car from Mercedes-AMG Team Bilstein on pole position with a best time of 8:09.058 minutes. In the end, the Italian had a 0.422-second lead over brand colleague Maro Engel in the #3 sister car from Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed in Top Qualifying 2. Engel thus narrowly missed out on his fourth Glickenhaus Trophy after 2016, 2019 and 2020, while the challenge cup for the fastest driver in the "Green Hell" goes to "Lello" for the first time. Pole-sitter Marciello remains calm as usual "To be honest, the qualifying result is fine, but it doesn't mean that much. I was on pole four times at Spa-Francorchamps and only managed to win once. You just have to convert the starting position first," said Marciello in his usual relaxed manner. "Of course, it's always good to start from the front. But our focus is now clearly on the race. We have a good starting position and will see what we can do with it." Engel was a little disappointed with the missed opportunity to claim his fourth pole position. "The Nordschleife with an open track and new tyres is always something special. The car was super. This time only second place, that's a bit of a shame. I would have liked to be at the front. But congratulations to Lello and his team." Second row on the grid for two Italian "new cars" The second row of the grid for Saturday's race is occupied by two "new cars" from Italy. Third place was secured by Kelvin van der Linde in the new Abt Lamborghini #27, who was the only one of the top drivers to improve to 8:10.498 on the second flying lap. Fourth place went to Nick Catsburg in the Frikadelli-Ferrari #30 in 8:10.518 minutes. Fastest Audi driver was Frank Stippler in the #5 from Scherer Sport PHX in fifth place, directly ahead of Nico Menzel in the #44 Falken Porsche as the best car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Best BMW driver was Augusto Farfus in the #99 Rowe-BMW in eleventh place. Feller, Sims, Keilwitz, Schiller and Drudi secure progress Before the final showdown, five drivers had still secured their teams' last available places in the hunt for the Glickenhaus Trophy and the best grid positions in Top Qualifying 1. Ricardo Feller in the #16 Scherer-PHX-Audi with the fastest time of the weekend so far of 8:10.046 minutes, Alexander Sims in the sister car with the #5, Daniel Keilwitz in the #20 Wochenspiegel-Ferrari and Mattia Drudi in last year's winning Audi #1 also from Scherer Sport PHX prevailed. In doing so, they each gave a teammate the experience of two free laps through the "Green Hell". "The lap was already extremely good. The track is awesome. The area in the Hatzenbach was mega slippery. But the car felt good. I'm super happy and looking forward to the race," said DTM driver Feller. Top Qualifying 1 interrupted for 29 minutes after heavy accident Top Qualifying 1 had to be interrupted with a red flag even before a driver had finished his first fast lap. Christian Krognes had crashed his #102 Walkenhorst-BMW into the tyre piles of the track barrier on a dirty spot in the Hatzenbach area. The Norwegian remained unhurt. After a break of 29 minutes, the first round of the top qualifying was completely restarted, but shortened to one fast lap instead of two. Autograph session and gridwalk for the fans on Friday evening After the battle for pole position, the evening before the 51st 24h Nürburgring continued to be exciting for the fans: the gridwalk through the pit lane with a large autograph session by all the teams was very well attended, and in the Müllenbachschleife the Falken Drift Show traditionally brought the spectators to their feet in the packed stands. Many other attractions on and off the track make the visit on Saturday and Sunday attractive as well: Tickets are available around the Ring and the Nordschleife at the open box offices. Full programme on site, extensive live reports After the positions for the start of the 24h Nürburgring have been taken, the "big race", as many drivers call it, can finally get underway on Saturday at 16:00. But before the 134 participants start their spectacular fight through day and night, the spectators at the Nürburgring can expect a full programme. There will be exciting motorsport on the track with the ADAC 24h-Classic starting at 9:10 am and the Touring Car Legends starting at 2 pm. The Ravenol Ferris Wheel in the paddock and many other offers and promotions from partners also make the visit more than worthwhile. Those who want to follow the action at the Ring from home are in the right place with free-TV partner NITRO, which will start a 26-hour non-stop live broadcast from 14:45.
