With a total investment of € 50,000, the stands and workplaces of the marshals along the Nordschleife will be refurbished. The workplaces at a total of 33 posts will be upgraded through various measures. The project is supported by the "Friends of the Nürburgring" association. The association is contributing € 15,000 as an earmarked donation. The work should be completed by the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring at the latest.
Marshals are the good souls of motorsport. Their tasks around the race track are manifold - they ensure safety and a correct sporting procedure. Marshals wave the different coloured flags that send important signals to the racers, they intervene if a vehicle has an accident or a vehicle part is lost and they are at the track during every race: in wind, sun and rain. "Without the marshals, the events at our racetrack would not be so feasible. It is their dedication and passion for motorsport that makes it all possible," explains Ingo Böder, Managing Director of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. "That's why upgrading the stands and workplaces is not only necessary but also a matter of the heart."
After several small improvements in the past years, a larger investment now follows. The €50,000 project includes various large and small measures - from the new plexiglass screen at the track marshal's shelter to new metal stairs for quick and safe use. "We support the upgrading of the stand and workplaces of the marshals from the bottom of our hearts," explains Manfred Sattler, chairman of the "Friends of the Nürburgring" association. "We are committed to the Nürburgring as a legendary race track and to all those who contribute here full of energy. The marshals are undoubtedly one of them - and that's why it was no question that we would contribute € 15,000 here."
Piece by piece, the construction of the stands and workplaces is now underway so that everything will be ready for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring at the latest.
