140 starters at the NLS double header

07.07.2021

Two days of motorsport in a row are on offer at the "double header" of the Nürburgring Endurance Series. Races five and six of the NLS are scheduled for July 10 and 11, 2021, on the legendary Nordschleife. 140 race cars will race over the historic asphalt. The starting field has it all.

In the VT2 class alone, there are 20 starters, followed by the Cayman GT4 Trophy (18) and SP9, which is packed with GT3 cars (16). In the VLN production cars up to 2,000 cc displacement with turbo, diversity is once again the trump card. Hyundai i30N, Seat Leon, Opel Astra OPC, Renault Megane RS, Volkswagen Golf and Scirocco measure their strength against different BMW models.

Also in double figures is the V4 (10) with the reigning champions from Adrenalin Motorsport, Christopher Rink, Danny Brink and Philipp Leisen. With their BMW 325i, Brink and Leisen currently lead the overall NLS standings after three wins in the class of VLN production cars up to 2,500 cc. Close on their heels, however, are Daniel Blickle, Tim Scheerbarth and Max Kronberg from the Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey Racing, who have already won two of three races in their class with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS from W&S Motorsport.

Danish Dynamite is currently causing a sensation not only in the European Football Championship, which is currently taking place, but also in the NLS. In the Junior classification, the Danes Kaj Schubert and Lucas Daugaard are in the lead after three victories in the V5 class with a Porsche Cayman of the Young KRS Danes team. 27.17 points in the class of VLN production cars up to 3,000 cc displacement have also put the young Scandinavians in a promising position in the overall standings.

Just 24 hours later, the drivers will have their next opportunity to score championship points. Klaus Abbelen contests a race at Monza on Saturday and then returns to the Green Hell for NLS 6. He will contest the race in the Frikadelli Porsche as a soloist. The same applies to Leonard Weiss, who will start the Wochenspiegel Ferrari on Sunday together with his father Georg Weiss and Jochen Krumbach after the Italian guest appearance.

The motorsport drivers will not have to do without loud cheering on site during this double-header either. Tickets for grandstands T3 and T4 can only be booked online. Proof of health - tested, vaccinated or convalescent - is required. Children up to 14 years of age are admitted free of charge. There is no mask requirement at the seat. The ticket includes access to the ring°werk. Free citizen testing is available on site. Info at www.labor-koblenz.de/ringbesucher
