80,000 fans, international and national top acts on three stages, supported by three days of sunshine. The Nürburgring once again transformed into a unique festival location last weekend. For the Nürburgring team, it was the second mega-event on two consecutive weekends. Between the finish line at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring and the first chord at Rock am Ring, there were only four days for the conversion. Together with the organizers ADAC Nordrhein and DreamHaus, the Nürburgring managed the full-throttle balancing act. And as a grand finale, Rock am Ring already provided a glimpse into 2025 when the 40th anniversary of the festival will be celebrated.
With Slipknot, the first headliner for 2025 flickered on the screens of the Utopia stage on Sunday. The American metal heroes are the first announcement for the grand anniversary, which is set to become a record event in the festival's history from June 6 to 8, 2025. Visitors can look forward to around 100 acts in total – more than ever before. For the anniversary edition, there will also be a fourth stage. New camping categories will be introduced, along with numerous other innovations to be announced in the coming months.
“The venue offers us optimal conditions.”
Accordingly, the festival organizers are looking ahead to this year and next with satisfaction and anticipation. "The last few days went incredibly well. We were very lucky with the weather, and the setup and event went smoothly," confirms Jana Posth, Festival Director of Rock am Ring. Matt Schwarz, CEO of DreamHaus and organizer of Rock am Ring, adds: "The venue offers us optimal conditions to put on a great festival. We look forward to celebrating the 40th anniversary of Rock am Ring at the Nürburgring next year and thank the entire team and the best audience in the world."
“A great team effort and Nürburgring diversity.”
Nürburgring CEO Ingo Böder shares a similar view: "That was a great team effort. The collaboration between the organizers of the 24h race and Rock am Ring, as well as the tireless dedication of the Nürburgring employees, provided a great experience for all visitors. We had the equivalent of two small towns as guests on two consecutive weekends. I am proud of everyone involved that everything from infrastructure provision to site approvals worked smoothly."
Managing director colleague Christian Stephani adds: "What particularly pleases me about our location is that we were able to experience the unique Nürburgring diversity again on two weekends and welcome completely different target groups. That is what makes the Nürburgring so special. We are a motorsport location, a festival site, and a home for a wide variety of sports events. For people who experience the Nürburgring from different perspectives - from day visitors to business guests."
Emergency services and police were also satisfied with the past festival days.
Armin Link, head of the DRK emergency service Nürburgring, explained: "We recorded around 500 emergency medical services, 4,000 mobile treatments by the medical service, and one helicopter deployment. Overall, the situation was calm." Nils Christ, spokesperson for the Mayen police department, reported similarly: "A peaceful event with cheerful visitors. There was consistently a good atmosphere on all days, with only occasional problems. As usual for such events, there were traffic measures, but the traffic concept worked overall, and there were hardly any traffic jams. The crime rate is currently at a low level."
Accordingly, everyone involved is looking forward to the anniversary edition next year with confidence. The pre-sale for 40 years of Rock am Ring starts this Monday, June 10 at 4:00 p.m. The weekend tickets for Rock am Ring cost 179 euros in the first price level.
