From August 1st to 3rd, 2025, the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix invites visitors to an exciting and diverse journey through motorsport history. Held at the Nürburgring, the event offers highlights such as spectacular races featuring Formula 1 legends and Group C, IMSA, and CanAm sports car prototypes. Touring car fans will enjoy races with historic DRM and DTM vehicles, and for the first time, a race reserved for Super Touring Cars as well as the brand-new Porsche Classic Cup. Rare treasures will also appear in races featuring early F1 and Grand Prix cars from the HGPCA, and in the invitational race for stunning sports cars and GTs built up to 1971. Touring cars, GTs, and formula vehicles will showcase a fascinating spectrum, ranging from pre-war automotive pioneers to modern sports cars. Historic motorcycles will also take to the track, enriching the 2025 OGP program.
Classic fans can look forward to the return of Formula 1 cars, alongside long-standing highlights at the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix. The British Masters Racing Legends will contest two championship races at the Ring, taking fans back to the era of the legendary Cosworth DFV engines. Between 1966 and 1985, drivers like Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Niki Lauda competed in these cars. As the organizers point out, this was a time when “creative car designers could win races long before wind tunnels and energy drinks were invented.” Another emotional highlight for motorsport and historic fans is the second Masters Series, dedicated to sports car legends from 1982 to 1993. The newly introduced Masters Group C is open to Group C and IMSA vehicles—icons such as the Porsche 962, Mazda 787B, Lancia LC2, and Toyota 87C will return to the track.
Living Formula History
The predecessors of the Cosworth F1 era will also be present at the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix. The British HGPCA will showcase front-engine monoposti, transporting fans back to the early days of Formula 1, first held in 1950. Cars like the Maserati 250F and Ferrari 246 Dino represent the automotive icons of that time. German Formula history is also honored in the ADAC Graf Berghe von Trips Trophy, featuring Formula 3 cars from the 1970s and 1980s.
DTM, STW, DRM: Motorsport History "Made in Germany"
The touring car races, which revive Germany’s glorious motorsport past, are fan favorites. The DRM revival features thrilling action from cars like the BMW M1, BMW 2002, Ford Escort, Turbo Capris, Porsche 935, and 911. Also popular are the touring cars of the "Golden Era", showcasing many beloved vehicles from the most memorable DTM years. The organizers are also adding more excitement: for the first time, there will be a race exclusively for STW cars. Additionally, the Golden Era Classic Cup makes its debut, recalling the history of the Porsche Carrera Cup. Talks with many legendary drivers are already underway, promising that the tradition of DTM and STW reunions at the Oldtimer Grand Prix will not only continue but expand.
The Most Beautiful Classics: The Emotional Highlight of the Event
A standout moment of the weekend is the race for two-seater sports and GT cars built up to 1971, held on Saturday evening. As twilight falls, this race recalls scenes once seen at Le Mans and other endurance classics. The exclusive field in this invitational event presents a parade of some of the most beautiful race cars ever made. When the headlights flash on, spectators will be transported back to the era when Aston Martins, Bizzarinis, Elvas, Ferraris, Jaguars, Lotuses, and Porsches fought for glory at La Sarthe.
Touring cars, GTs, and sports cars complying with FIA Appendix K will compete in other races: the Historic Championship ’65 for older vehicles and its sister series for cars up to 1981—Europe's largest historic racing series, where the German Historic Automobile Champion title is also awarded. Points also count toward the Historic Championship for CanAm & Sportscars, which returns again. This lineup includes everything from the Ford “Dogbone” Escort to the mighty McLaren M8F with eight-liter displacement—a visual and acoustic treat for fans. To connect with modern racing, the FCD Racing Series, organized by the Ferrari Club Deutschland, is part of the event—its Ferrari-filled grid a dream for fans of the Italian marque.
Historic Motorcycles, Pre-War Racers, and Much More
The program is rounded off with events beyond racing. As tradition dictates, pre-war race cars will participate in the Vintage Sports Car Trophy—non-competitive but thoroughly engaging for history enthusiasts. These rare machines will be stationed in the Nürburgring’s historic paddock, which dates back 100 years and serves as an authentic backdrop. Also housed there are special guests: historic motorcycles from the "Grab The Flag" association. Dozens of machines are expected, and will be seen in “Test on Track” demo runs. This marks a return to the Oldtimer Grand Prix's roots—historic motorcycles were already present at the very first event in 1973.
Additional driving events, such as the Friday Track Day on the Nordschleife, and the Motor Klassik reader races, further enrich the experience. Top-brand clubs in the Mercedes Arena and gatherings of other clubs around the Grand Prix track parking areas add even more historic flair to the event.
