The "Sign for Charity" initiative by the Nürburgring and the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring has concluded with an outstanding result. A total of 32,625 Euro was raised through the auction of ten original Nürburgring Nordschleife section signs, each signed by drivers competing in the 24h Nürburgring. The entire proceeds will be divided equally among nine charitable organisations from the Nürburgring region, with each organisation receiving 3,625 Euro.
During a joint photo opportunity on the Grand Prix circuit, representatives of the supported organisations were informed about the total amount raised and the share each charity will receive. The impressive result of the initiative was met with great enthusiasm, as it transformed the worldwide passion for the Nürburgring into tangible support for important community projects in the region.
Until the end of last season, the auctioned signs were mounted alongside the Nordschleife, making them part of the legendary circuit that has been writing motorsport history for almost 100 years. For the charity campaign, the signs were removed and signed by drivers during this year's ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. The result is ten truly unique collector's items, combining motorsport heritage with a worthy cause.
Worldwide Nürburgring passion meets strong regional commitment
The auction once again demonstrated that the fascination of the Nordschleife extends far beyond Germany's borders. The ten signs were purchased by Nürburgring enthusiasts from around the world. Five signs will remain in Germany, three were acquired by motorsport fans from the United Kingdom, while one sign each will head to the United States and Luxembourg.
"The Nürburgring is deeply rooted in the region while at the same time inspiring people all over the world. Our auction perfectly reflects this by turning international enthusiasm into direct support for organisations in our local community," said Alexander Gerhard, Nürburgring spokesperson. "For us, social responsibility is just as much part of the Nürburgring's DNA as major events and unforgettable emotions."
That sentiment is shared by Waltraud Klein, Managing Director of Alzheimer Gesellschaft nördliches Rheinland-Pfalz e.V., who attended the symbolic cheque presentation on behalf of her organisation:
"It means a great deal to us that a world-renowned institution such as the Nürburgring not only stands for tradition, performance and passion, but also demonstrates such a big heart for the people of our region. With this support, you are providing real help for those affected and their families, while also sending a strong message of solidarity, compassion and social responsibility. We are sincerely grateful for this."
Nürburgring employees nominated their own 'projects close to their hearts'
The nine beneficiary organisations were selected by Nürburgring employees. In the first step, all staff members were invited to nominate regional charities and personal causes close to their hearts. Afterwards, the approximately 220 permanent employees of the operating company voted to determine which organisations would receive support.
Each of the following organisations will receive 3,625 Euro:
- Tierschutzverein Mayen und Umgebung e.V.
- Suchhunde & Kitzrettung Adenau am Nürburgring
- Wildvogel-Pflegestation Kirchwald
- Ronald McDonald Haus Sankt Augustin
