Honouring of legendary Nürburgring race director Kurt Bosch by the DAMC 05

01.06.2023

The second chairman of the DAMC 05 Thomas Feyen presented Felix Schmitz, Project Manager at the Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, presented him with two new enamel street signs in honour of the famous race director Kurt Bosch. Kurt-Bosch-Strasse is located in the new Grand Prix paddock of the Nürburgring along the pit area. The ceremonial handover was accompanied by his foster son Gerd Holtkamp and his grandson Lars.

Kurt Bosch was a member of the Düsseldorfer Automobil- und Motorsport-Club 05 for 33 years and became honorary chairman in 1980. Like "his" club, Bosch was always closely connected to the Nürburgring.
As early as 1961, he became a motorbike officer in the ADAC Nordrhein, later sports director and race director of the Eifel Race and the Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. In 1972, Kurt Bosch was elected as one of the OMK presidents and in 1973 as vice-president of the World Motorcycle Federation (FIM). Bosch was one of the driving promoters for the construction of the modern Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, which opened in 1984. Kurt Bosch died two years later, on 1 May 1986.

Today, the DAMC 05 continues the tradition with the Nürburgring Classic and the 1000km Nürburgring, and used its 118th anniversary to honour its member Kurt Bosch.
