The Nürburgring is looking forward to a successful start to the easter weekend. While on the track the tourist drivers made their laps, on Good Friday it remained relatively quiet around the track. In normal years, many thousands of visitors ensured a massive influx on the access roads and along the Nordschleife. The police as well as the operators of the racetrack were accordingly satisfied. They attribute the success to good communication in advance, to structured measures on site and to the understanding visitors, who almost without exception willingly abided by the rules.

“This Good Friday is a good example of what can be achieved even in times of pandemic if all parties involved work together”, says Mirco Markfort, Managing Director of Nürburgring. “Despite the nice weather, we managed to explain to people that there are tourist rides on the track, but otherwise all pitches around the track are closed and we advise against taking a day trip to the Nürburgring. It is very gratifying that this has been accepted willingly. ” Overall, the managing director was able to report on respectful cooperation between visitors and folders.

Similar to the Nürburgring managing director, the police, who were deployed with a contingent of around 100 troops, also sees it. At times, the police helicopter observed the events from the air. “The traffic around the ring was generally significantly lower than usual on Good Friday”, reports Manuel Wehrmann, the head of the Mayen police department. “We were able to observe viscous traffic at times, especially at noon and early afternoon. Our forces, however, ensured that this did not come to a standstill at any time. As a result, crowds of people were largely prevented or could be resolved by targeted speeches and loudspeaker announcements. All in all, Good Friday at the Nürburgring went very well. ”

Full-day tourist trips until Easter Monday on both tracks
Just like the Nürburgring, the police also drew attention to the applicable rules and increased readiness for action in the run-up to the Easter weekend. In addition to the police forces, the Nürburgring had deployed 60 folders around the track. They controlled different areas such as the open Grand Prix paddock, the closed parking lots and possible hotspots.

Until Easter Monday, the Nürburgring offers all-day tourist rides on the Nordschleife and Grand Prix track. However, the central message remains for all those who do not take advantage of the offer: “Stay at home. ”
