All good things come in threes: In the 2025 DTM season, Manthey is expanding its involvement in the series and entering three Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time. Two of the three drivers from the 2023 championship-winning team remain unchanged: Thomas Preining (Austria), 2023 DTM champion, starts his third season with Manthey EMA, while Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) is in his second year with the Nürburgring-based team. New to the team is 19-year-old Morris Schuring, who will compete for the Manthey Junior Team. The youngest Dutchman in the history of the series will make his DTM debut at the season opener in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from April 25th to 27th.
The two Porsche works drivers Preining and Güven will remain with the team as experienced campaigners, once again at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R sporting the iconic Grello livery. Güven will continue to compete with car number 90, while Preining will aim for success with the number 91. Manthey will present the design of Schuring's 911 at a later date.
“While our expectations were not met in 2024, we were very satisfied with our team performance and are pleased to be represented in the DTM with an even stronger line-up in 2025. In our third season in the series, we want to go on the offensive again,” explains Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. “I am pleased that Ayhancan and Thomas will remain with our team and hope that this year's results will reflect the very good cooperation. Morris had a very successful WEC season in 2024. He is a young driver who has impressed us with his performance, so the next logical step is now the DTM.”
Thomas Preining celebrated one victory last year and finished the championship in fifth place. In his fourth season in the DTM, he wants to fight for the title again: “I'm happy that everything stays the same and that we continue to work together as a team. I believe that consistency is extremely important in our sport and it helps tremendously when you can work with the same people over the years. We grow ever closer and we will try to make use of that this year. We have had many great moments together as a team. 2024 was certainly a difficult season for us, but that's part of it and ultimately makes us stronger. Now we are coming back with a clear goal: we want to be champions again!”
Ayhancan Güven is hungry for more trophies after his first podium for Manthey EMA in the season finale: “I'm excited to continue competing with Manthey in the DTM in the 2025 season! Last season did not meet our expectations. However, we have improved a lot over the course of the year, especially in the second half of the season, when I was also able to celebrate my first podium with the team in the DTM. That will be our starting point for 2025. I know what we are capable of and what results we can achieve, and our goals are ambitious. Preparations are going smoothly and I can't wait for the new season to start!”
For Schuring, competing in the DTM is a dream come true: “The DTM has always been a series I wanted to race in. It's a dream come true, and I'm really proud to do it with Manthey. The team proved that it is one of the best by winning the 2023 DTM title. Last year we won Le Mans together and I am very happy that we are now also working together in a sprint series. I love sprint races and in the DTM I have the chance to really prove myself as a driver. Thanks to my time in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I know seven of the DTM tracks – only the Norisring will be new to me. I am highly motivated and have worked very hard over the winter to prepare myself as well as possible. I am also proud to call Ayhancan and Thomas my teammates. I know them from previous races, both are strong drivers and I respect them very much.”
