Well prepared for the motorsport year 2022: In March and April, racing teams from all over the world will be diligently testing at the Nürburgring. The Official Test Days on the Nordschleife and Grand Prix Track will last a total of eight days. In addition to GT, formula and racing cars from various series, there will be a high-performance test premiere: at the beginning of April, race trucks will prepare for their season at the Nürburgring for the first time. Ring spectators usually only see these heavyweights at the Int. ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix.

"People say it’s best if it passed the Nürburgring test” - this saying has meanwhile been valid for 95 years. Thanks to its challenging and versatile track variations, the Nürburgring has been a sought-after testing ground since its opening in 1927. Today, it convinces more than ever with its high-performance and modern infrastructure - including the newly built Race Control. 

The Official Test Days bring the diversity of motorsport to the Green Hell right at the beginning of the season. The start is made by the Tryout and Set-up Days. Traditionally, the engine noises return to the Ring here. From 18 to 20 March, Friday to Sunday, the teams collect their first kilometers of the year. The cars - mainly participants in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring - will then be on the road on the Nordschleife and the sprint version of the Grand Prix Track.

Just one week later, from 28 to 31 March, Formula and GT cars will already be testing on the sprint track. On the first two days, the Formula cars from the Formula 3 and 4 junior series will be on the track. On Wednesday and Thursday, the sprint track will be used by numerous race cars from the GT3, TCR touring car and GT4 series.

This year, for the first time, trucks from the FIA European Truck Championship (ETRC) will round off the test. The almost 1500-hp race trucks will prepare for their season on Monday, 4 and Tuesday, 5 April. They will not meet again until the Int. ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix at the Nürburgring (15 to 17 July), where they will compete for points for the championship.

The extent to which spectators can be present on the grandstands or even in the paddock during the test days will be decided shortly. The Nürburgring will provide information on this on its website and social media channels. However, the hiking and cycling trails along the track will be open to the public as usual.
