Jubilation at McLaren and Dörr Motorsport: Ben Dörr drove the fastest lap in the second qualifying session at the Nürburgring on Sunday morning with a time of 1:25.620 minutes. This secured the 20-year-old his first pole position for McLaren in the DTM and puts him in first place on the starting grid for the first time. “I'm lost for words! When I heard over the radio that I'd secured pole position, I was overjoyed. It's just wonderful to see the progress we're making as a team. Today is my father's birthday, so starting from the front of the grid is the perfect gift for him,” said a delighted Dörr. Lucas Auer (Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf) finished second, just a tenth of a second behind, and therefore has a good chance of regaining the lead in the standings on Saturday. Gilles Magnus (Comtoyou Racing) also put in a strong performance in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and finished third. Fourth place went to Lamborghini driver Jordan Pepper. However, the South African from TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT will be set back five places on the grid for the race after receiving his third warning on Saturday. Jules Gounon (Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter) finished qualifying in fifth place. Bright sunshine greeted the 24 drivers on Sunday morning for the second qualifying session at the Eifel circuit. With a cool 14 degrees Celsius, it took a long time for the Pirelli slicks to reach their optimum operating temperature and for fast laps to be possible. Magnus was the first driver to break the 1:26.000-minute mark with two and a half minutes remaining. Shortly afterwards, Dörr set a new fastest time. Then things got dramatic: Auer took the lead on the last lap, but just eight seconds later Dörr countered and secured the first pole position of his DTM career. Front-runner Jack Aitken disappointed with 16th place and will have a tough time defending his eight-point lead in the championship against Auer. Rast celebrates his 30th DTM victory after a gala performance

10.08.2025

A perfect race and a milestone anniversary: René Rast (Bregenz/Schubert Motorsport) celebrated his 30th victory in his DTM career on Sunday at the Nürburgring after a composed performance. After 38 laps, the three-time champion crossed the finish line in first place with a lead of just under eight seconds. "I didn't expect such a dominant race. But I could already feel in the formation lap that the car felt very good. To have secured the 30th victory of my DTM career means an incredible amount to me. When I started my DTM career in 2017, such a number was unimaginable for me," said Rast, who was successful at the Eifel circuit for the fourth time. His teammate Marco Wittmann (Fürth) completed the one-two victory for Schubert Motorsport in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo. Lucas Auer (A/Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf) regained the lead in the standings with third place ahead of Jack Aitken (GB/Emil Frey Racing), who finished 16th and failed to score points after contact with a competitor through no fault of his own. A total of 78,000 visitors enjoyed a fantastic motorsport weekend with thrilling races and three days of sunshine. Rast showed shortly after the start on Sunday afternoon that he had big plans for the tenth DTM race of the season. The 38-year-old made up three places and slotted into third behind pole-setter Ben Dörr (Butzbach/Dörr Motorsport) in the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Auer. After two more overtaking maneuvers, the BMW driver took the lead on lap six and pulled away from the field as the race progressed.Rast was the last driver to make his first mandatory pit stop and remained in the lead ahead of Auer. Teammate Wittmann moved up to third place after an early tire change. Gilles Magnus (B/Comtoyou Racing) in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and Ford Mustang driver Arjun Maini (IND/HRT Ford Performance) followed in fourth and fifth place. Rast was also quickly dispatched by his Team Schubert Motorsport crew during the second pit stop and returned to the 3.629-kilometer track with a comfortable lead. Wittmann was able to overtake Auer shortly afterwards, who lost a lot of time during the tire change, just like on Saturday. Behind the BMW duo and Auer, Maro Engel (Monaco/Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing) finished Sunday's race at the Nürburgring in fourth place with a tactically astute drive. Ayhancan Güven (TR/Manthey EMA) completed the top five in his Porsche 911 GT3 R after an uneventful race at his team's home event. Maini rewarded himself with sixth place in the Ford Mustang GT3 for another strong performance. Belgian driver Magnus celebrated his first top ten finish for himself and his team in seventh place. Pole-setter Dörr was unable to keep up with the pace at the front but still finished in the points in eighth place. Jordan Pepper (ZA/TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT) steered his Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 to ninth place and is now third in the overall standings. Thomas Preining (A) was unable to finish higher than tenth in the second Manthey EMA 911. Marco Wittmann: “After fifth place on Saturday, the podium is the perfect end to a strong weekend for us. Unfortunately, we didn't have the necessary speed in the first stint, so we decided to make an early first pit stop. The strategy paid off because it allowed me to make up a lot of positions.”Lucas Auer: “The two BMWs were on a different level. Second place might have been possible, but unfortunately our second pit stop didn’t go perfectly. Overall, it was an action-packed weekend. You can tell that the second half of the season has started and things are getting a bit rougher on the track.”

Forza Ferrari: Aitken and Vermeulen on the front row

09.08.2025

Ferrari is unstoppable in qualifying for the DTM: Jack Aitken from Team Emil Frey Racing drove the fastest lap in the first qualifying session at the Nürburgring on Saturday morning with a time of 1:25.155 minutes, securing pole position for the second time this season. Teammate Thierry Vermeulen finished second, 0.044 seconds behind. This means that the Ferrari duo will start from the front row, just as they did at the Norisring. "I'm over the moon! The team set up my car perfectly for the track. In recent years, I've often been close to the podium at the Nürburgring, but it's never quite been enough. That makes pole position all the sweeter for me. I love this place; the atmosphere at the Nürburgring is always fantastic," said the Briton, who scored three points for pole position for the second time this season and climbed to second place in the standings. Vermeulen also praised the Emil Frey Racing team: "After the Norisring, to be on the front row with two cars at the Nürburgring is the result of an outstanding team performance. With such a close margin, you're naturally a little annoyed that it wasn't enough for pole position. But there's always a second qualifying session on Sunday." Luca Engstler (TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT) took third place in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2. Alongside him, Ben Green will start the ninth race of the season in fourth place in the third Ferrari from Emil Frey Racing. Championship leader Lucas Auer (Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf) steered his Mercedes-AMG GT3 into fifth place. With temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius, it took more than ten minutes in Saturday morning's qualifying session for the 24 drivers' Pirelli tires to reach the optimum temperature range. After that, the lead changed hands every second. Auer initially took the lead, but was soon overtaken by Engstler. With just under a minute and a half to go, Aitken set the fastest time on the 3.629-kilometer track before Vermeulen moved up to second place on his final lap. The gaps in the first qualifying session at the Nürburgring were extremely close, with the top five separated by just 0.121 seconds. Nürburgring has a full calendar of events in 2025

12.03.2025

Ready for a full-throttle 2025: the engines will finally start up at the Nürburgring in March. And once again, the event calendar is full to bursting: 60 events make the Eifel race track a worthwhile destination for many good reasons well into the fall. Racing spectacle, festival summer, comedy evening or family outing: the Nürburgring will make hearts beat faster again this year. They belong to the Ring as much as the champagne shower on the podium: crowd-pullers such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the DTM, Rock am Ring, the Truck Grand Prix and the Oldtimer Grand Prix will once again attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Eifel this year. A fast-paced mix that includes around 60 public events between March and November alone. Major events alternate with hands-on motor sports and small after-work pleasures, such as the Nürburgring cycling and running club or the Afterwork Classics. One of the highlights will be the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. On the Corpus Christi weekend (June 19-22), well over 100 race cars will take on the ultimate challenge: 24 hours non-stop on the most demanding track in the world. A spectacle – also because of its passionate fans. Tens of thousands will be camping along the track, creating the unique atmosphere of the Ring. One new feature this year is a particularly family-friendly camping option in the new Family & Friends area. If you enjoy the thrilling and close racing on the Nordschleife, there are many other opportunities to experience racing action in the Green Hell throughout the year at the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series and the RCN circuit racing challenge. The International ADAC Truck Grand Prix is also a real experience. For decades, Germany's truckers have been celebrating Christmas with country music, camping and fast-paced racing. This year, the truckers will be on the loose from July 11 to 13. The traditional music festival has recently undergone a rejuvenation. The revamped Saturday evening program now features well-known party artists, and affordable single-day tickets are available for this event. Europe's most famous racing series, the DTM (August 8-10), will once again be a guest on the Nürburgring's sprint track – and will shine with a wide variety of brands, familiar faces and thrilling racing. Or how about a journey back in time to the last century of motorsport? With the Nürburgring Classic (June 13-15), the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix (August 1-3) and the ADAC 1000 km race (September 20-21), three events are dedicated to historic racing cars. Indoor events from comedy to sportsThere will be plenty of laughter and celebration off the track this year: Comedian Carolin Kebekus will be making a guest appearance in the ring°arena in the fall (September 20) with her celebrated Shesus tour. NightWash Live will also be bringing stand-up comedy to the Nürburgring again this year, on November 15. And at Darts am Ring, some of the world's best dart throwers will transform the ring°arena into a madhouse together with many celebrating darts fans on March 29 – just like at the big role model, the Ally Pally. The Nürburgring Family Day on October 26 and the Job Fair on November 7 and 8 round off the indoor highlights. And because the Nürburgring is not just about watching, other hands-on events are looking forward to motivated participants. Whether on two wheels at Rad am Ring (July 18-20), on foot at the Hotfoot Run (May 10), or with the powerful Gargenschatz at GRIP - das Motorevent (July 6). Speaking of garage treasures: Numerous tourist driving days are planned again for all petrol heads, during which anyone can drive on the ring. The Nordschleife and Grand Prix circuit will open their barriers on well over 100 days.

Manthey will compete in the 2025 DTM with three Porsche 911s

29.01.2025

All good things come in threes: In the 2025 DTM season, Manthey is expanding its involvement in the series and entering three Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time. Two of the three drivers from the 2023 championship-winning team remain unchanged: Thomas Preining (Austria), 2023 DTM champion, starts his third season with Manthey EMA, while Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) is in his second year with the Nürburgring-based team. New to the team is 19-year-old Morris Schuring, who will compete for the Manthey Junior Team. The youngest Dutchman in the history of the series will make his DTM debut at the season opener in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from April 25th to 27th. The two Porsche works drivers Preining and Güven will remain with the team as experienced campaigners, once again at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R sporting the iconic Grello livery. Güven will continue to compete with car number 90, while Preining will aim for success with the number 91. Manthey will present the design of Schuring's 911 at a later date. “While our expectations were not met in 2024, we were very satisfied with our team performance and are pleased to be represented in the DTM with an even stronger line-up in 2025. In our third season in the series, we want to go on the offensive again,” explains Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. “I am pleased that Ayhancan and Thomas will remain with our team and hope that this year's results will reflect the very good cooperation. Morris had a very successful WEC season in 2024. He is a young driver who has impressed us with his performance, so the next logical step is now the DTM.” Thomas Preining celebrated one victory last year and finished the championship in fifth place. In his fourth season in the DTM, he wants to fight for the title again: “I'm happy that everything stays the same and that we continue to work together as a team. I believe that consistency is extremely important in our sport and it helps tremendously when you can work with the same people over the years. We grow ever closer and we will try to make use of that this year. We have had many great moments together as a team. 2024 was certainly a difficult season for us, but that's part of it and ultimately makes us stronger. Now we are coming back with a clear goal: we want to be champions again!” Ayhancan Güven is hungry for more trophies after his first podium for Manthey EMA in the season finale: “I'm excited to continue competing with Manthey in the DTM in the 2025 season! Last season did not meet our expectations. However, we have improved a lot over the course of the year, especially in the second half of the season, when I was also able to celebrate my first podium with the team in the DTM. That will be our starting point for 2025. I know what we are capable of and what results we can achieve, and our goals are ambitious. Preparations are going smoothly and I can't wait for the new season to start!” For Schuring, competing in the DTM is a dream come true: “The DTM has always been a series I wanted to race in. It's a dream come true, and I'm really proud to do it with Manthey. The team proved that it is one of the best by winning the 2023 DTM title. Last year we won Le Mans together and I am very happy that we are now also working together in a sprint series. I love sprint races and in the DTM I have the chance to really prove myself as a driver. Thanks to my time in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I know seven of the DTM tracks – only the Norisring will be new to me. I am highly motivated and have worked very hard over the winter to prepare myself as well as possible. I am also proud to call Ayhancan and Thomas my teammates. I know them from previous races, both are strong drivers and I respect them very much.”
