Nürburgring starts the 2023 event season

07.03.2023

It's finally starting again - under the new claim "we make your heart race", the Nürburgring is entering the new event season. Great emotions await professionals, amateurs and spectators at around 50 events from the genres of motorsport, music and sport. Highlights include the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring and the 12h Nürburgring of the Nürburgring Endurance Series as well as the 50th anniversary of the Oldtimer-Grand-Prix, the mega festival Rock am Ring or sporting events such as Rad am Ring or the Hotfoot Run. And even beyond the events, there will again be an extensive range of leisure and adventure activities.   As usual, the Nürburgring Endurance Series will do the honours for the season premiere in 2023. On 18 March, the lights will turn green for the first time. The NLS will shake the Green Hell a total of eight times. On the combination of sprint track and Nordschleife, the large field of starters in the Green Hell will once again be at full throttle - with the entire automotive diversity from near-series racing cars to full-blown GT3 bolides. The highlight of the NLS season will again be the 12h Nürburgring from 8 to 10 September. Here, even the complete version of the race track - including the entire Grand Prix Track - will be driven. The fans know the same track variant at the motorsport highlight of the season. After a veritable fan festival with 230,000 visitors, the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Race from 18 to 21 May once again invites to a gigantic horsepower party. Race teams from all over the world, a tough race on the most demanding race track in the world and the unique atmosphere around the track are expected: drivers and fans alike are looking forward to the camping and campfire atmosphere. A foretaste of the endurance classic is already available in April - on 22 and 23 April, the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers will get underway. 50th Anniversary of the Oldtimer-Grand-PrixFans of historic vehicles will also get their money's worth this year - even with a big anniversary. The Oldtimer Grand Prix (11 - 13 August) is turning 50! As one of the most traditional festivals for traditional vehicles in Europe, it is once again the highlight of the historic motorsport season in Germany. In addition to an outstanding starting field with vehicles from the entire history of the Nürburgring, fans can look forward to a fan world around the Grand Prix circuit. Those who want to experience even more time travel is in the right place at the Nürburgring. With the endurance classic ADAC 1000 kilometre race (15 - 17 September), at the Nürburgring Classic (26 - 28 May) or at the ADAC Westfalen Trophy (13 - 15 October), horsepower-packed time journeys through history await. The Int. ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix is a little rougher than the historic vehicles. The race trucks will make the racetrack shake - and from 13 to 16 July they will give each other a run for their money when they thunder around the racetrack at around 160 km/h. Also at the start in the supporting programme: the ADAC GT Masters. Besides the track, there will be a lot of colourful activities. With many activities and exhibitors in the paddock, a children's area, a trade fair and, of course, the traditional music festival in the Müllenbachschleife.  Real GT3 highlights await each other on two weekends at the end of July and the beginning of August. The Fanatec GT World Challenge pwd by AWS (29 - 30 July) will kick things off. The DTM immediately follows from 4 to 6 August. A total of 13 teams with six different brands will be competing in the race series, which is being held under the umbrella of the ADAC for the first time. There will be cars from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG Porsche as well as Lamborghini and Ferrari. Strong line-up and only European concert by the Foo Fighters at Rock am RingThe festival fans return at Rock am Ring from 2 to 4 June. Strong headliners are waiting at Rock am Ring again this year with the Toten Hosen and the Kings of Leon. They will be completed by the Foo Fighters, who will make their only European appearance at the festival this year. Anyway, the band, which has won the Grammy eleven times, returns to German stages for the first time after 2018. In addition, many other international fan favourites such as Rise Against, Limp Bizkit, the rock duo Tenacious D or US superstar Machine Gun Kelly await. Motorbike service a tradition for many bikersMotorbikes are also part of the programme at the Nürburgring. They celebrate their traditional opening of the season during the ecumenical service "Anlassen" (2 April). More than 10,000 bikers get their blessing in the paddock and enjoy the highlight: the joint parade around the Nordschleife. In addition, there will be tourist rides on the Grand Prix Track and other programme items in the paddock. Racing motorbikes from different eras will take centre stage at the Cologne circuit. On 14 May, they will show their best side on the Grand Prix Track. Particularly eye-catching are the starts of the veteran sidecar riders and the historic motor scooters. This year, for the third time, the Grand Prix circuit will be the venue of the ADAC/DMC Race Weekend (10-11 June). From "old iron" to sidecars and superbikes, everything is represented here for beginners and experienced pilots.  On foot and by bike around the RingThe fact that the Nürburgring can also be mastered on foot or by bike is impressively demonstrated by the athletes at the Hotfoot Run and at Rad am Ring. On 6 May, the famous obstacle course involves overcoming mountains of straw bales, mud pits and ice-cold pools of water. From 21 to 23 July, the cyclists take on the world's most demanding race track. The highlight of the event is the 24-hour cycle race over the combination of Grand Prix circuit and Nordschleife. But the Nürburgring is also popular with athletes beyond the event: a total of seven cycling and running events are scheduled for 2023. Here, amateur athletes can run or experience the legendary track on the various dates.  But even without a major event, the Nürburgring is always worth a visit. There is much to discover and marvel at. For example, the motorsport experience museum ring°werk, the ring°kartbahn with pure motorsport feeling, the Nürburgring eSports bar, the ring°kino with one of the largest 3D cinema screens in the region or various gastronomic highlights such as the Italian restaurant Lucia or the Bitburger Gasthaus in the ring°carré as well as the Devils Diner at the Nordschleife await the visitors. For those who want to take a look behind the scenes of the legendary race track, the backstage tour is just the right thing - including a visit to the winner's podium. > see the whole event calendar 2023 Start of the season with a new claim"nürburgring. we make your heart race."The Nürburgring is taking off with a new claim. Because the Nürburgring is more than just a race track. Nestled in the Eifel forests and firmly rooted in the region, it has been an international place of emotion, passion and unique stories for almost 100 years. And for Nürburgring fans from all over the world, it is one thing above all: a place of solidarity and community - a kind of home. The fact that emotional moments, people and a very special feeling of longing make up the Nürburgring will be visible and tangible this season under the new claim of the destination. From now on, the motto at the Nürburgring is: "we make your heart race". This claim stands for the passion of the employees of the Nürburgring companies, who see themselves as pioneers of unique moments and for the diverse experiences that the players and visitors experience here. It stands for goose bumps and heart throbbing, for adrenaline and joy, for an incomparable challenge.  These emotions can be triggered by a visit to the Nürburgring Endurance Series just as much as by an overnight stay right next to the race track at the Nürburgring Congress Hotel managed by Lindner. A ride in a kart, in the passenger seat of a racing car or in the simulator of the Nürburgring eSports bar also causes special palpitations - and taking part in a corporate event with a direct view of the race track is just as special. All of this is the Nürburgring emotion that creates special impressions and memories for everyone involved. Beyond the on-site experience, the Nürburgring feeling is transported all over the world. Through emotional scenes - for example in the live broadcast of a race by Nürburgring.tv or in the new image clip of the destination. And of course there are a variety of emotional image motifs from all events and moments at the Nürburgring via the Nürburgring communication channels.  No matter where, no matter when: everyone should have the opportunity to experience a piece of the Nürburgring and, of course, to feel for themselves what it means when it says: "nürburgring. we make your heart race."

Exclusive European headline performances of Foo Fighters at Rock am Ring

25.01.2023

It's an event: The Foo Fighters will play exclusively at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park this year. Since their founding by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl in 1994, the Foo Fighters have won eleven Grammy Awards, among others, the band most recently reached the Top 5 of the US Billboard charts with five consecutive albums and, with 30 million albums sold, they are one of the biggest stadium rock bands of today. The venue for their first German concerts in five years was not chosen by chance: Band and festivals have a long friendship, most recently the Foo Fighters played two spectacular headlining shows at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2018. After the Toten Hosen and Kings Of Leon, the Foo Fighters are now the third main stage headliner. Meanwhile, fans of hard sounds will be happy about another spectacular new confirmation, because Five Finger Death Punch will also perform at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. The modern metallers are among the most successful hard rock bands of the past ten years and have been awarded gold and platinum many times.Another old acquaintance is the German indie star Thees Uhlmann, who already performed with his band Tomte at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2006. The line-up is completed by the American metal band Bad Wolves, the Austrian indie duo Cari Cari, the glam rockers Steel Panther, the indie rock bands Yonaka and Pabst as well as Die Nerven, the most important German discourse rock band of the moment. Also newly confirmed are Sam Tompkins, Mod Sun and the Chemnitz indie band Blond. With the only European performances by the Foo Fighters this year and the other new additions, the programme is sensational and once again leads the national festival scene with an unprecedented breadth and exclusivity of top-class artists. Die Toten Hosen are extending their live celebrations of the band's 40th anniversary and will perform for the first time in a calendar year only at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, where they will play their only two headline shows in Germany in 2023. Kings Of Leon and the British metalcore pioneers Bring Me The Horizon can also be experienced this summer at Central European festivals exclusively at Ring and Park. International fan favourites like Rise Against, Limp Bizkit or the rock duo Tenacious D as well as alternative rockers Incubus, Evanescence with singer Amy Lee, US superstar Machine Gun Kelly or the hardcore through-starters Turnstile will also play exclusive festival shows at the Rocks. The punk rock veterans NOFX have chosen Ring and Park for their last shows in Germany, for which the festivals provide a fitting setting. Rock am Ring and Rock im Park will take place from 2 to 4 June 2023 at the Nürburgring and at Nuremberg's Zeppelin Field. Tickets are still available for both festivals.

Frontman Campino comments: "It's no secret that the two twin festival venues are among our absolute favourites, where we have fought legendary battles together with the people over the years.  We've just had a fantastic summer with the fans and are now even more excited to get the opportunity to serve up the full programme of Tote Hosen madness again next year on historic ground, to all those who want to go one more round as well as to all newcomers. Get ready!"  The two other headliners are yet to be announced - it's going to get loud!Among the almost 50 names of the first wave of bands are the most relevant artists of the moment: Apache 207, who just sold out the additional shows of his big arena tour in seconds.  US superstar Machine Gun Kelly and UK hotshot Yungblud, who have recently made pop-punk big again. Pioneers of this genre are NOFX.  Fat Mike's heroes have nevertheless decided to end their live career - the last chance to relive their stage show at Ring and Park. The fan favourites Jack Black and Kyle Gass alias Tenacious D, whose festival shows always manage the balancing act between persiflage and a declaration of love for stadium rock, bring humour with them. The young generation of the indie scene is represented by the sink-rock stars Giant Rooks and Province. The line-up also sets accents in German rap and has Juju, Badmómzjay and Finchdrei, the most successful acts, at the start.  For all rock fans there will be a reunion with many (not at all) old acquaintances:  Papa Roach, Hollywood Undead, The Distillers, ex-HIM frontman Ville Valo alias VV, Hot Water Music, Architects, Three Days Grace and Fever 333. © Thomas Rabsch

230,000 fans at the 24h race - Rock am Ring ahead

29.05.2022

It was the emotional return of the fans: 230,000 visitors celebrated a huge motorsport party at the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring. The organisers, police and Nürburgring operating company look back with satisfaction on a successful weekend - with a great atmosphere and no incidents worth mentioning. At the same time, the 24-hour race was a strong start to the Nürburgring event summer. The next big event is already in the starting blocks: Already next weekend 90,000 festival fans will come to the Nürburgring - then for Rock am Ring (3-5 June). "I had goose bumps. Full grandstands and a great atmosphere around the track. You work all year for moments like that. That's what drives us as a race track and event location," the Managing Director of the Nürburgring Betreibergesellschaft, Christian Stephani, said enthusiastically after the weekend. "You could really feel this atmosphere everywhere. From the campsite at the Nordschleife to the lounges." This emotion is also shared by the sporting director of the organiser ADAC Nordrhein, Mirco Hansen: "The fans provide the emotional setting for our unique race. The pictures of the grid, the full grandstands and the fans around the Nordschleife - that was sensational. That has inspired everyone. The drivers and teams also confirm that." The Mayen police department also looks back on the past weekend with satisfaction. "The first official major event in two years went absolutely satisfactorily from a police point of view," explains press spokesman Nils Christ. "Apart from minor traffic disruptions, there were no noteworthy disturbances. We were on duty with strong forces and recorded only a few low-level offences despite the high number of visitors." For the police there is now only a short breather. The officers will be back on duty in time for Rock am Ring. The same goes for the team of the Nürburgring operating company. Managing director Ingo Böder, who together with Stephani is responsible for the fate of the race track, speaks of an organisational and operational tour de force: "I am proud of the whole team. While half of them were working on the 24h race, the others were already preparing Rock am Ring. On two weekends in a row, we have almost a big city as our guest. We can only manage this task with commitment and many years of event experience." From Friday, 3 June, 90,000 festival visitors are expected at the Nürburgring. The focus will then be on international top bands like Green Day, Volbeat or Muse. Together with the fans, they will continue to write the history of the Nürburgring Event Summer.

Nürburgring starts 2022 season with full calendar

17.03.2022

The Nürburgring kicks off the season. In 2022, the versatile event location will once again offer the entire event portfolio with engine sounds, guitar tones and endurance sports. Finally, the focus is back on the fan experience. At the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h-Nürburgring, the unique party atmosphere will return to the Green Hell for the 50th anniversary, and at Rock am Ring thousands of festival visitors will finally celebrate together again. Those who want to feel like a racing driver themselves this year are also in good hands at the Nürburgring. The training sessions for everyone with the new Formula 4 cars provide unique memories. Despite the different event formats, thrilling motorsport is still the focus at the legendary race track. The racing series and vehicles are characterised by an enormous variety. Impressive race trucks, such as at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix, are just as much a part of the experience as international top-class sport in the DTM or the ADAC GT Masters. Meanwhile, the FIA World RX of Germany is a fully electric event with plenty of power under the bonnet. On the other hand, vehicles from all eras of motorsport await at a wide variety of classic car events such as the AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix or the ADAC 1000-km-Race. Those who prefer to experience racing on two wheels will also find exciting dates in the calendar. The traditional start of the season for bikers, the "Anlassen" motorbike service, will also be held again in 2022. The emotional conclusion here is the joint parade of all participants over the legendary Nordschleife. At sporting events like Rad am Ring and the StrongmanRun, on the other hand, there is no performance measured in horsepower. Here, the participants only use their own muscle power. Away from the race track, the party gets going for the spectators at the Nürburgring Darts Gala. World champions and big names of the sport will be present in the ring°arena on 25 March. Big 24-hour anniversary, a 12-hour premiere and a mega rock festivalIn September, the big 90s party will take place in the same location - among others with the musicians of Caught in the Act or Loona. The indoor event is part of the supporting programme of the new Nürburgring 12h Race, which will celebrate its premiere from 9 - 11 September. The motorsport weekend will be the new highlight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, which will start a total of eight times on the combination of Grand Prix Track and Nordschleife in 2022. Already in May (26.05. - 29.05.) the 50th anniversary of the legendary 24-hour race will take place. The fans will finally be able to enjoy the complete fan experience again. Including camping, barbecue and party around the Nordschleife, free choice of seats on the grandstands, access to the paddock and the obligatory visit to the grid before the race. There will be a big reunion with the fans just one week later at the Rock am Ring festival. From 3 to 5 June, the bands around the headliners Green Day, Muse and Volbeat will perform here and really heat up the crowd. A day at full throttle at the Nürburgring Driving AcademyFor all those who not only want to experience goosebump moments at events, but also want to put their foot down themselves, the Nürburgring also has an innovation in its programme. In future, participants in the Nürburgring Driving Academy training sessions will sit in ultra-modern Formula 4 cars. With breathtaking cornering speeds and explosive acceleration - from 0 to 100 km/h: 2.9 seconds - they will race around the Grand Prix Track. Everything is built according to the latest safety standards. The Nürburgring offers around 60 courses, ranging from starter courses to professional formula training. In principle, anyone with a valid driving licence and a maximum height of 1.90 metres and a weight of 110 kilograms can take part.
