BELMOT OGP 2025: A colorful and emotional journey through time

12.06.2025

From August 1st to 3rd, 2025, the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix invites visitors to an exciting and diverse journey through motorsport history. Held at the Nürburgring, the event offers highlights such as spectacular races featuring Formula 1 legends and Group C, IMSA, and CanAm sports car prototypes. Touring car fans will enjoy races with historic DRM and DTM vehicles, and for the first time, a race reserved for Super Touring Cars as well as the brand-new Porsche Classic Cup. Rare treasures will also appear in races featuring early F1 and Grand Prix cars from the HGPCA, and in the invitational race for stunning sports cars and GTs built up to 1971. Touring cars, GTs, and formula vehicles will showcase a fascinating spectrum, ranging from pre-war automotive pioneers to modern sports cars. Historic motorcycles will also take to the track, enriching the 2025 OGP program. Classic fans can look forward to the return of Formula 1 cars, alongside long-standing highlights at the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix. The British Masters Racing Legends will contest two championship races at the Ring, taking fans back to the era of the legendary Cosworth DFV engines. Between 1966 and 1985, drivers like Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Niki Lauda competed in these cars. As the organizers point out, this was a time when “creative car designers could win races long before wind tunnels and energy drinks were invented.” Another emotional highlight for motorsport and historic fans is the second Masters Series, dedicated to sports car legends from 1982 to 1993. The newly introduced Masters Group C is open to Group C and IMSA vehicles—icons such as the Porsche 962, Mazda 787B, Lancia LC2, and Toyota 87C will return to the track. Living Formula HistoryThe predecessors of the Cosworth F1 era will also be present at the BELMOT Oldtimer Grand Prix. The British HGPCA will showcase front-engine monoposti, transporting fans back to the early days of Formula 1, first held in 1950. Cars like the Maserati 250F and Ferrari 246 Dino represent the automotive icons of that time. German Formula history is also honored in the ADAC Graf Berghe von Trips Trophy, featuring Formula 3 cars from the 1970s and 1980s. DTM, STW, DRM: Motorsport History "Made in Germany"The touring car races, which revive Germany’s glorious motorsport past, are fan favorites. The DRM revival features thrilling action from cars like the BMW M1, BMW 2002, Ford Escort, Turbo Capris, Porsche 935, and 911. Also popular are the touring cars of the "Golden Era", showcasing many beloved vehicles from the most memorable DTM years. The organizers are also adding more excitement: for the first time, there will be a race exclusively for STW cars. Additionally, the Golden Era Classic Cup makes its debut, recalling the history of the Porsche Carrera Cup. Talks with many legendary drivers are already underway, promising that the tradition of DTM and STW reunions at the Oldtimer Grand Prix will not only continue but expand. The Most Beautiful Classics: The Emotional Highlight of the EventA standout moment of the weekend is the race for two-seater sports and GT cars built up to 1971, held on Saturday evening. As twilight falls, this race recalls scenes once seen at Le Mans and other endurance classics. The exclusive field in this invitational event presents a parade of some of the most beautiful race cars ever made. When the headlights flash on, spectators will be transported back to the era when Aston Martins, Bizzarinis, Elvas, Ferraris, Jaguars, Lotuses, and Porsches fought for glory at La Sarthe. Touring cars, GTs, and sports cars complying with FIA Appendix K will compete in other races: the Historic Championship ’65 for older vehicles and its sister series for cars up to 1981—Europe's largest historic racing series, where the German Historic Automobile Champion title is also awarded. Points also count toward the Historic Championship for CanAm & Sportscars, which returns again. This lineup includes everything from the Ford “Dogbone” Escort to the mighty McLaren M8F with eight-liter displacement—a visual and acoustic treat for fans. To connect with modern racing, the FCD Racing Series, organized by the Ferrari Club Deutschland, is part of the event—its Ferrari-filled grid a dream for fans of the Italian marque. Historic Motorcycles, Pre-War Racers, and Much MoreThe program is rounded off with events beyond racing. As tradition dictates, pre-war race cars will participate in the Vintage Sports Car Trophy—non-competitive but thoroughly engaging for history enthusiasts. These rare machines will be stationed in the Nürburgring’s historic paddock, which dates back 100 years and serves as an authentic backdrop. Also housed there are special guests: historic motorcycles from the "Grab The Flag" association. Dozens of machines are expected, and will be seen in “Test on Track” demo runs. This marks a return to the Oldtimer Grand Prix's roots—historic motorcycles were already present at the very first event in 1973. Additional driving events, such as the Friday Track Day on the Nordschleife, and the Motor Klassik reader races, further enrich the experience. Top-brand clubs in the Mercedes Arena and gatherings of other clubs around the Grand Prix track parking areas add even more historic flair to the event.

7:04.957 – Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Sets the New Record of the Fastest Electric Executive Vehicle at the Nürburgring

11.06.2025

On April 01, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra completed its first official lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with driver Vincent Radermecker, achieving a lap time of 7:04.957 minutes. The vehicle thus set a new record in the “Electric Executive Car” category (electric luxury sedan). All record drives and further information Onboard through the Green HellThe record lap of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is now available on the Nürburgring YouTube channel. The onboard footage from the cockpit of the vehicle offers the opportunity to relive this fantastic lap. Information about the official “Nürburgring record laps”The following principle applies to all drives: one track, one complete lap, one time – according to uniform standards. In addition to timekeeping with calibrated measuring technology, official record attempts and attempts to achieve a lap time are always accompanied by a notary. In addition to monitoring the timekeeping, the vehicle is also inspected. TÜV Rheinland checks for standard conformity and documents this. The exact length of the track and the start and finish lines are precisely defined. A full lap of the Nordschleife is driven and measured with a flying start (20.8 kilometers). The vehicle categories for record drives and official lap times at the Nürburgring are divided into different segments by the Federal Motor Transport Authority and specially defined special classes.

Top line-up for the Nordschleife classic

04.06.2025

A large field of competitors will gather at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for the highlight of the season: The starting list for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring (June 19–22, 2025) has finally been officially announced, and it is stronger than it has been in years: Over 140 cars will compete for the prestigious trophy on Corpus Christi weekend, which is sure to be hotly contested. In the top class of GT3 cars alone, teams from eight different manufacturers will battle it out for overall victory! And across the starting field, extremely promising fights are shaping up in the 20 classes, some of which are very strongly contested. All signs point to fantastic racing for this full-throttle festival, which fans should not miss. The defending champion's #1 starting number belongs to Scherer Sport PHX this year, and the team would love to clinch its eighth overall victory in team history with the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II. Christopher Haase, Luca Ludwig, and Markus Winkelhock will attempt to do so. And although Audi has officially withdrawn from GT3 racing and the picture-perfect R8s are now considered “young used cars,” two pole positions in the previous NLS races for the Juta team's Audi show that the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer is still a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack. A total of four Audi R8s will compete, with Scherer PHX facing stiff competition from within its own team in the form of the Porsche 911 GT3 R, which the team from the Eifel region has been using since this year – because the “911s” have been the benchmark on the Nordschleife in 2025 so far. Porsche is the benchmark for this year's 24hA Porsche 911 GT3 R crossed the finish line as the winner in all races of this year's Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). Most recently, Scherer PHX scored a double victory in the two 24h Qualifiers, which also count towards the NLS. Falken Motorsports won the first two NLS races, and Manthey EMA also took home a winner's trophy with the “Grello” 911 with the distinctive #911 start number.  Manthey, like Scherer PHX, is the leader in the race's all-time statistics with seven 24-hour overall victories to date. It is sending an excellent team of drivers to the start and, like Scherer PHX and Falken, is one of the close circle of Porsche contenders for victory. With a total of seven cars, the 911 GT3 R is also numerically the most represented in the GT3 class. The Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 are also represented four times each. Strong driver line-ups and fascinating GT3 carsThe Mercedes-AMG GT3s were once again among the frontrunners this year. Two of the three cars on the starting grid are fielded by Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed, which can also rely on extremely fast and reliable drivers. New to the GT3 lineup is the Ford Mustang GT3, which is sure to make fans of American pony cars salivate. HRT Ford Performance is sending the new GT3s onto the track, with many Nordschleife specialists behind the wheel. Finally, the BMW M4 GT3 Evo from Rowe Racing and the Ferrari 296 GT3 fielded by Realize Kondo Racing can be considered “exotics,” as there will only be one of each on the starting grid. In the case of Rowe, fans can always expect a surprise, as the team relies on very successful GT3 drivers who are also very familiar with the Nordschleife. Strong line-up for the “class battle”A total of over 140 vehicles will line up at the start this year in 20 classes ranging from production cars to GT3. In addition to the highly competitive SP9 (GT3), other classes also stand out, where fierce battles are expected. The two Cup classes reserved for specific Porsche models have almost two dozen participants, some of whom like to “poach” in the GT3 field, especially in wet weather. Ten GT4 cars from five different manufacturers also make the category of the supposedly “smaller” GTs a competitive and exciting affair. At the other end of the performance scale, the “small” production cars in VT2 offer a wide variety of brands and participants. There are six front-wheel drive cars in the field, ten rear-wheel drive cars, and a total of six brands. Not to forget the fleet of vehicles powered by alternative fuels. A total of eleven vehicles are at the start in this booming category, demonstrating that fuels with an increasingly high non-fossil content could be a model for the future. Many exciting starters ensure top-class entertainmentWhen the wheels finally start turning in the first qualifying session on Corpus Christi Thursday, spectators can also look forward to some exotic cars that traditionally hold a special place in the hearts of fans. These include the Dacia Logan (#300), which “Ollis Garage” is fielding in SP3T, and the “White Angel” VW Beetle RSR (#13), which is competing in the same class and was built and tuned from scratch by Bernd Albrecht's team. But the two small BMW 318ti (#275 / #277), which MDM Racing is fielding with the help of RAVENOL, also deserve a special round of applause. Built with a lot of private initiative and enthusiasm, the horsepower underdogs from Ensdorf are among the thoroughbred private teams that make up an important part of the 24h family. The Porsche 997 of the Saugmotoren Motorsport team (#97) can be seen in a similar light – probably the last representative of the sixth generation of the 911 produced until 2012 in the field. But there are also brand-new models. Dörr Motorsport is fielding a McLaren Artura Trophy Evo (#59) in the SP8T, which is making its debut at the 24h Nürburgring. This marks the brand's return to the race for the first time since 2014. The Lynk & Co brand will make its very first appearance, becoming the 68th make to enter the eternal statistics. The Lynk&o 03 TCR #827 will be fielded by Fancy by Teamwork Motorsport for an all-Chinese team of drivers in the AT3 class. The list of exciting entries, debuts, and interesting details could go on and on, demonstrating that the 24h Nürburgring remains a playground and showcase for ambitious teams, exciting technology, and automotive innovation in its 53rd edition.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing expands its commitment at the Nürburgring

27.05.2025

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing and the Nürburgring are strengthening their long-standing partnership. Effective immediately, the T12a grandstand, which runs along the back straight of the Grand Prix circuit, will be renamed the “TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Grandstand.” This will make Toyota's performance brand even more visible in the Green Hell. The presence will be complemented by eye-catching advertising spaces on the pit wall and on the glass façade above the busy entrance to the ring°boulevard. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing represents the company's motorsport activities worldwide and has been an integral part of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, the legendary ADAC RAVENOL 24-hour race, and other international competitions for many years. The new visibility underscores the close connection between Toyota and the Nürburgring – not only on the track, but also off it. A special highlight is the large-scale display of a historic moment: a picture from 2007 shows Akio Toyoda, current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Japanese automotive group – alias Morizo – during his first participation in the 24-hour race. This event marks the origin of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's philosophy: to build ever better cars through motorsport. “The new TOYOTA GAZOO Racing grandstand and the advertising spaces on the pit wall and ring°boulevard are striking eye-catchers – right next to the track and in the middle of the action,” explains Christian Stephani, Managing Director of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. “Toyota's expanded presence underscores the appeal of our race track as a stage for performance-oriented brands.” Fans can now cheer on their favorite teams from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing grandstand until at least the end of 2027. The advertising installations on the pit wall and on the ring°boulevard will be an integral part of the Nürburgring's visual identity until at least the coming season.

RCN: Ralf Schall claims first win of the season

26.05.2025

At the end of the third event of the Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring (RCN), the “Preis der Schlossstadt Brühl,” things got really exciting once again. Around 150 participants took to the starting line in initially dry conditions for the performance test on the 25.378-kilometer track variant of the 24-hour race (Nürburgring-Nordschleife + GP circuit without AMG Arena). Rain was forecast for the afternoon, but it didn't start until later than expected. Many drivers were already in the final stages of the test by then. Ralf Schall (Dornstadt, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), who had been in the lead from the start, took a risk, drove to the finish on slicks and won for the first time this season. “It couldn't have lasted a lap longer, otherwise the dry tires would have been a big disadvantage.” David Vogt (Waldfeucht, Opel Astra TCR), winner of the RS3A class, opted for the same tactic and finished second. Third-placed Volker Wa-wer/Stefan Schmickler (Karlsruhe/Bad Neuenahr, Porsche Cayman GT4 CS) opted for a different approach to the external conditions and switched to rain tires shortly before the end. “Unfortunately, that didn't give us any decisive advantage.” RCN Series Manager Willi Hillebrand: “For the first time this season, we didn't have ideal weather conditions. But it could have been much worse.” With their third victory in the R2A class, Hagay Farran/Moran Gott (both Israel, BMW G20 330i) further extended their lead in the RCN 2025 standings. The closest challengers come from the H4 class. Christian Frasch/Frederik Laarmann (Wendlingen/Bottrop, BMW 325i) secured their third win of the season and are now second in the championship standings.

The Nordschleife at its best during the 24-hour qualifiers

25.05.2025

Successful Prologue for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring from June 19 to 22: The ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers offered everything that defines endurance racing on the legendary Nordschleife. Demanding weather and track conditions, thrilling racing action, and dramatic developments. Not only did the weekend whet the appetite for the season highlight in June, but it also provided the perfect opportunity for teams to fine-tune their preparations. In Saturday evening’s rain-soaked opening race, the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) from Scherer PHX came out on top—and the reigning 24h champions repeated the feat in Sunday’s race as well. After 27 laps, Laurens Vanthoor was waved across the line ahead of the Falken Motorsports #33 Porsche and the Manthey EMA #911. Now, teams have just under four weeks to prepare for the 24h race—and after this eventful weekend, they’ll take home plenty of valuable insights. In Sunday’s Top Qualifying session, GetSpeed claimed pole with their #14 Mercedes-AMG GT3 and immediately engaged in a spectacular first-lap battle with the Scherer PHX Porsche. As the track dried quickly, both leaders came into the pits after just one lap to switch to slicks—followed by a host of other teams. The resulting shuffle in the field provided plenty of excitement as the race progressed. After the first hour, it was the Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R #911 that held the lead. Having skipped qualifying due to repairs, the team had started from the back of the first starting group. By mid-race, things had settled somewhat, with the Abt Lamborghini #27 also taking turns at the front, alongside GetSpeed and the Porsches from Scherer Sport PHX (#16) and Falken Motorsports (#33). Ultimately, Scherer PHX’s strategy proved to be the winning one, with Laurens Vanthoor bringing home the victory in the blue “Elfer” of the reigning 24h champions. “The fact that it started raining again on the final lap made it unnecessarily exciting,” the Belgian driver grinned. “But overall, everything went great for us. We were able to push at all times, and the tires lasted through the eight-lap stints.” Teammate Patrick Pilet was also pleased: “A double victory this weekend is a mega start for both of us and perfect preparation for the 24h. Conditions today once again showed why the Nordschleife is called the ‘Green Hell’—starting with a drying track, racing in the dry, and then rain just before the end.” Mühlner Porsche Loses NLS LeadSince both 24h Qualifiers races also count toward the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), extra attention was paid to the battle within the various classes. The team of Arne Hoffmeister and Tim Scheerbarth had arrived as unbeaten leaders of the Cup 2 Porsche class and, together with David Jahn, defended their NLS lead with another class win in Saturday’s race. In the second heat, they looked on course for another victory—but ultimately fell short, and with that, they also lost the overall NLS lead. That top spot is now shared by two teams following class wins on Sunday: Nick Wüstenhagen, Ranko Mijatovic, and Tobias Wahl took victory for FK Performance Motorsport in the SP8T class with their #187 BMW M4 GT4, while the Adrenalin Motorsport Team Mainhattan Wheels (#650) won the Cup class for BMW M240i Racing Cup cars, fielding drivers Sven Markert, Kevin Wambach, and Adrian Rziczny. All Signs Point to a Thrilling 24h in JuneWith three NLS weekends and now the two 24h Qualifiers races completed, teams are entering the final phase of preparations for the race of the year. Porsche heads into the season highlight as the provisional favorite, having dominated the NLS season and won both Qualifiers races—five victories in total is a strong statement. But the top group is likely to feature seven other manufacturers: Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-AMG. The GetSpeed Mercedes-AMGs and the Abt Lamborghini both delivered strong performances during the Qualifiers, indicating that the 24h will feature open, no-holds-barred battles. This also applies to the roughly 20 classes competing—ranging from full-blown race cars to near-production vehicles, ensuring variety and excitement for all fans. Numerous attractions on and off the track round out the event, making it a must-see. Organizers expect over 200,000 visitors during the race weekend once again this year.

Scherer-Porsche wins in rain-soaked thriller

24.05.2025

The Eifel showed its harsh side during the first race of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers (May 24–25): the four-hour contest put all 108 entrants to the test under cold and wet conditions that demanded everything from their driving skills. Perfect weather for the true virtuosos behind the wheel, who demonstrated their mastery and the capabilities of their machines. In the end, the 2024 24h race winners—Scherer Sport PHX—came out on top, but this time with their new-for-2025 Porsche 911 GT3 R (#16), driven to victory by Laurens Vanthoor and Patric Niederhauser. They finished ahead of fellow Porsche squad Manthey EMA (#911), who had taken pole in the morning’s qualifying. Third place went to the GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 (#14) with rain specialist Maxime Martin, Fabian Schiller, and Luca Stolz. A chance for redemption comes quickly: Race two of the 24h Qualifiers will also run over a four-hour distance starting Sunday (May 25) at 1:00 p.m. Right after the start of the weekend’s first race, the GT3 frontrunners showed just how fierce the battle for top positions in the 24h Qualifiers can be. Kevin Estre in Manthey EMA’s iconic “Grello” Porsche (#911) initially held the lead, while a thrilling three-way fight unfolded behind him for second. Falken driver Julien Andlauer (#33 Porsche 911 GT3 R), Frank Stippler in the Scherer PHX Porsche #8, and Laurens Vanthoor in the GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 (#16) were racing with sprint-race intensity. The Nürburgring Nordschleife, as ever, had the final say: both Estre and Andlauer dropped back on the slippery track, clearing the way for Vanthoor to take over the lead—a decisive move that ultimately secured the win. The Belgian summed it up succinctly: “There are probably no tougher conditions in motorsport than what we had here today.” Teams Use Weather for Setup Fine-TuningKevin Estre, who delivered a strong double stint in the second-placed #911 “Grello”, reflected: “They don’t call it the ‘Green Hell’ for nothing. I’m just glad I managed to keep the car on track—probably the toughest two and a half hours I’ve ever had on the Nordschleife. But we finished the race, and P2 is fine for us.” Estre was among the drivers whose teams used the treacherous conditions to experiment with wet-weather setup. “Everyone was trying something with tire pressures at the start—we got it wrong. In the first very short stint, we simply had the wrong pressure. I had no chance. But it’s definitely better to find that out now rather than during the 24h race—that’s what we’re here for.” Veteran Frank Stippler described a similar experience: “We went with way too low tire pressure. As the rain got heavier, I kept hitting aquaplaning patches—very sudden, almost digital loss of grip. It was hard to manage, and at times with the spray it felt like driving blind.” Double Significance: Final 24h Prep and NLS DoubleheaderThe 24h Qualifiers weekend holds a special place in the Nordschleife endurance calendar. The two races serve as the final chance to prepare for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h in June and offer many drivers a valuable opportunity to collect the laps needed for their "Permit"—the special Nordschleife license. The weekend also awards championship points for the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie twice, which means strong entries across all classes. In today’s first Qualifiers race, championship leaders Arne Hoffmeister, David Jahn, and Tim Scheerbarth (Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992, #921) defended their position at the top. The trio has won every NLS round so far in the highly competitive Cup 2 class.
