A focus on safety – revamped program for motorcyclists at the Nürburgring

The Nürburgring has restructured its offering for motorcyclists. The most important change is that motorcycles and cars will no longer be on the tracks at the same time. To make the Nürburgring experience particularly safe for bikers, the track operator is introducing professional training and exclusive time slots for two-wheelers from this season onwards. The Nürburgring's tourist rides are a popular attraction for everyone. Anyone with their own vehicle can take a turn on the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife during opening hours. “The safety of all participants is our top priority,” explains Nürburgring Managing Director Ingo Böder, drawing attention to a crucial finding in this context: ”We have taken a very close look at the situation regarding the simultaneous participation of cars and motorcycles in tourist trips.” The analysis revealed that “the different driving dynamics can lead to misunderstandings between two- and four-wheelers,” says Böder. “In this case, motorcyclists are particularly at risk because, unlike car drivers, they have no crumple zone. That is why we have decided to strictly separate cars and motorcyclists in the future and to restructure the offer for bikers so that they can enjoy the Nürburgring experience as safely as possible.” Training with guided driving for motorcyclists on the NordschleifeThe restructuring plan provides for different options for the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit. In the future, motorcyclists will only be able to experience the 21-kilometre Nordschleife under the supervision of trained guides during training sessions and courses. Four full-day sessions will be offered for motorcyclists in 2025. The Motorrad Action Team (July 30-31) and ADAC Doc-Scholl Driver Training (August 13-14) are each organizing full-day training formats for two-wheelers. The subdivision into different groups makes the offer suitable for beginners as well as for very experienced Nordschleife connoisseurs. “These offers enable participants to experience the unique but challenging track under professional guidance and controlled conditions,” explains Ingo Böder. Grand Prix circuit: exclusive motorcycle stints and a wide range of training coursesMotorcyclists can continue to take part in tourist trips on the Grand Prix circuit. On the much more extensive track, bikers will benefit from exclusive stints during opening hours. These can be flexibly arranged according to the daily volume of two-wheelers and can be easily implemented on the 5.1-kilometer-long track. The exclusive stints for two-wheelers should provide a high level of riding comfort and increased safety for bikers thanks to the uniform driving lines. According to current planning, the Grand Prix circuit will open a total of 38 times in 2025. In addition, motorcycle training and track days will also take place here. Under the guidance of Speer Racing and Ducati 4U, there will be nine dates from May to September that are aimed exclusively at bikers. Flexibility and return options for season tickets and creditMotorcyclists who already have a season ticket or a credit balance for the tourist rides can continue to use these for the offer on the Grand Prix circuit. In the future, the personal credit for the Nordschleife can only be used if the driver participates in the tourist trips with a car. Alternatively, the Nürburgring offers the possibility to easily return season tickets or credit. The Nürburgring info°center is available for this return process.

Falken is the new partner for legendary Nordschleife signs and high-speed sections

14.02.2025

Falken Tyre Europe GmbH and the Nürburgring have entered into a new, far-reaching marketing partnership. The well-known tire manufacturer is intensifying its involvement at the longest permanent race track in the world. In the future, the Falken logo will adorn the 31 signs with the names of the official track sections along the Nordschleife. In addition, a section of the Grand Prix circuit will have a new name: the fast, long stretch on the opposite side of the start-finish straight will now be called the Falkenbogen. More than a quarter of a century ago, a true crowd-pleaser did its first laps at the Nürburgring. Back then, a Nissan Skyline in striking turquoise-green took to the well-known race track. Since then, numerous successful race cars have sported the distinctive Falken look, making it an iconic vehicle livery of the Green Hell. Now, Falken Tyre Europe GmbH and Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG are intensifying their relationship with a new, far-reaching marketing partnership. Initially set to last for three years, the partnership will ensure that one of the world's largest tire manufacturers has an even greater presence at the Nürburgring. The Falken logo will now adorn the famous section signs on the Nordschleife. A total of 31 signs announce the upcoming section to drivers over 20.832 kilometers. They bear familiar names such as Brünnchen, Pflanzgarten or Caracciola-Karussell – and in the future they will also bear the Falken logo. In addition to professional racing drivers at major motorsport events, the signs also provide information to many private drivers on the Nordschleife every day – for example, during tourist trips or track days. Another part of the cooperation is the naming of a section of the Grand Prix circuit. The challenging passage opposite the start-finish straight is now called the Falkenbogen. This full-throttle section, which is located shortly before the end of the 5.148-kilometer lap, regularly provides exciting slipstream duels and spectacular overtaking maneuvers. The name Falkenbogen is now present on the Grand Prix circuit maps and is also mentioned during racing broadcasts. A 240-meter long band of Falken decals is also clearly visible along the track. Nürburgring Managing Director Christian Stephani is pleased about the new partnership: “Falken is one of the brands in motorsport to which fans have a special emotional connection. Whether as a racing team in long-distance races on the Nordschleife or at events such as the Falken Driftshow at the 24-hour race – Falken stands for passion for motorsport at the Nürburgring. That's why we are very happy about this joint commitment, which makes the Falken brand visible both on the Nordschleife and on the Grand Prix circuit all year round. The high standards of the Nürburgring and Falken brands are an excellent match.” “The sponsorship of the Nordschleife section signs underlines the long-standing, trusted relationship between Falken and the Nürburgring. We look forward to experiencing further successful years at the Ring, to expanding the history of Falken motorsport and to living up to the official Falken arch from now on,” says Dennis Wilstermann, Assistant Marketing Manager at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH.

DNLS | Full speed ahead into the second half of the season

13.02.2025

The second RAVENOL 3h race on Saturday, February 15, will mark the start of the second half of the season of the digital Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. When almost five dozen cars take up the race over the 180-minute distance in the virtual Green Hell at 1 p.m. sharp, excitement is guaranteed, as the decision in the championship is drawing closer. A preliminary decision will not be made, because there are no strike results in the winter season 2024/2025. The digital race day will be livestreamed from 11:30 a.m. on VLN.de. In the overall standings, two teams from SCHERER eSPORT are in the lead. The #116 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and the #269 Renault Clio have each notched up two class wins. William Chadwick and Luca Alpert won alongside regular driver Raphael Rennhofer in the 911, while Sven Winter and Michael Teusch triumphed twice in the Clio. As in the real ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecke-Serie, the DNLS features multi-class action. New this season is the Clio SP3 class. It forms the counterpart to the significantly faster and more spectacular GT3 cars in the SP9. And even though the power is much lower – in the class of compact sports cars from France, exciting racing is on offer. “We always have to keep an eye on the mirrors from the second lap onwards when we are on the D-Zug and the GT3 pack flies past us. Above all, we have to make sure that we still take the momentum with us everywhere,” says championship leader Teusch. ”We reach our top speed of around 215 km/h in the Fuchsröhre. We don't have a chance of getting up to that speed on the Döttinger Höhe. The Clio lacks a bit of power at the top end. Plus, we're running without ABS, which means that the rear wheels tend to lock up. That makes driving the Clio extremely demanding, but it's always a lot of fun.” BS+COMPETITION leads the field in the SP9 class. European Truck Racing Champion Norbi Kiss and Felix Quirmbach finished second in the Mercedes-AMG GT3's digital counterpart at the season opener and went on to win the second race on February 1. AMG Team Apex Racing is in second place – with a respectable seven-point gap. Gordie Mutch has taken a liking to DNLS during his most recent guest start. The Briton, who won the 2022 Praga Cup and finished tenth in the 2024 British GT4 Championship, is replacing Elias Seppänen as a real driver at Apex Racing. Sebastian Øgaard, a young talent, is taking his place in the simulator for Pole Promotion Esports, the team around DTM champion René Rast and Alexey Nesov. The Dane has twice finished on the podium in the GTWC Silver Cup in 2024. After a break of one race, Tim Heinemann returns to the virtual cockpit of the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Team Nitro x Falken. The 27-year-old sim racing pro made his DTM debut in 2023 and last year, with Falken Motorsports, claimed victory in the real-life ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecke-Serie. Falken Simracing leads the championship in the GT4 class SP10. Lucas U. Müller and Benedikt Hitz drove the BMW M4 GT4 to third and first place, and with a one-point lead, they are just ahead of SimRC. In the Mercedes-AMG GT4, Corentin Guinez and Marvi Strehl finished second twice. The second RAVENOL 3-hour race is the third of four rounds in the 2024/2025 winter season. NLS presenters Patrick Simon and Olli Martini will open the livestream on VLN.de on Saturday at 11:45 am from the virtual studio at the Nürburgring with a pre-show and a summary of the practice session. The virtual starting lights will turn green at 1 p.m. for the three-hour race. The livestream can be accessed here.

Nürburgring and ADAC secure ten motorsport events until 2028

31.01.2025

A new contract until 2028: The Nürburgring and ADAC are extending their partnership, thereby creating the long-term basis for a total of ten motorsport formats in the Green Hell. Visitors can continue to look forward to international highlights, historic motorsport and exciting popular and junior series. These include, among others, the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix, the ADAC 1000km race and the Nürburgring Circuit Challenge. “The ADAC will remain a long-term partner of the Nürburgring as an organizer of motorsport events, and the Nürburgring will remain a reliable constant for the ADAC as a unique motorsport destination and attractive visitor magnet,” explains Ingo Böder, Managing Director of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. “By extending the contract until 2028, we are creating planning security for both sides and enabling us to secure the motorsport tradition at the Nürburgring across a range of formats.” A real fan festival will remain firmly anchored in the Nürburgring calendar. The International ADAC Truck Grand Prix will continue to bring an impressive mix of thrilling XXL motorsport, a colorful paddock, a music festival and a trade fair to the Eifel in the coming years. “The Truck Grand Prix celebrated its premiere at the Nürburgring in 1986. Now it is certain: it will celebrate its 40th anniversary here and also conjure up a great atmosphere for the whole family at the Ring in the following years,” explains Jörg Hennig, Sports Director of ADAC Mittelrhein e.V., who is also responsible for the sporting organization of the Fanatec GT World Challenge race at the Nürburgring. This is also anchored in the new contract. In addition to modern racing cars, historic vehicles also continue to have a place on the Nürburgring calendar. “Events such as the ADAC 1000km race and the ADAC Nürburgring Classic are tributes to the glorious past of motorsport, which we bring to life. The new contract is an important basis for the continuous development of our events,” emphasizes Henning Meyersrenken, organizer of the two historic motorsport formats. In addition, the ADAC RGB season finale and the Kölner Kurs motorcycle event are included until 2028 from the historic motorsport segment. The portfolio of grassroots and junior development through to professional sport is also included in the new contract. Clear the ring for round two: revenge at the Goodridge 3-hour race?

30.01.2025

The Digital Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie will start again on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The title sponsorship will be taken over by the recently announced new partner of the NLS: the second round of the popular championship in the virtual Green Hell is the Goodridge 3h race. The program again includes thrilling race action, which will be broadcast in a livestream from 11:45 a.m. on VLN.de. The race director will send the field out on the 180-minute race distance at 1 p.m. sharp. Christian Vormann celebrated his premiere in the aforementioned race management at the DNLS opener in December. The permanent race director of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie is also part of the race management in the digital counterpart, where he acts as spotter and sports commissioner. Thus, the overarching motto 'Respect - My Race is Fairplay' is also implemented in the DNLS. “It was really impressive to see how professional things are behind the scenes in the virtual world – this is definitely serious racing and not just a game,” says Vormann. ”The approach is very different from the real-life counterpart, because it primarily involves following up on information from participants that is submitted to race control online. We can then analyze the scenes from every conceivable angle and, if necessary, take action. We don't have these options in the real NLS. Here, we work with a large number of marshals around the track who are both eyes and ears for the race organizers.” In addition to Vormann, two other stewards, Simon Christmann and Sebastian Wunsch, are on duty. Dominik Ramb and Lukas Unger are the race directors. Simon Ehses and Gunnar Miesen are the operators. With the exception of Vormann, the entire sim racing organization team behind the DNLS has the 'Simracing Offizial License Level A' from the DMSB. All of them are experienced sim racers themselves, while race director Ramb also works as a race director in karting. The participants in the Digital ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie are just as professional as the race management – and season race two promises another three hours of exciting racing. At the season opener, the AMG Team Apex Racing won the race by a wafer-thin margin ahead of BS+COMPETITION. The Goodridge 3-hour race will be their revenge. The reigning ADAC GT Masters champion Elias Seppänen will be competing for Apex together with Salva Talens. The British racing team will be fielding a second Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Gordon Mutch and Tom Reiher. Veloce Thrustmaster will also be making a guest appearance. 'Flying Finn Academy' driver Tatu Siipola and Daniel Lafuente will take turns at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3. MühlnerMotorsportXSmilla, among others, will be competing with a new real driver. NLS pilot Joshua Hislop will share the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 R with Serej Blum. Without a real driver, Nitro x Falken, Dörr eSports and Falken Simracing will be competing in the second race. Teams that compete in the race without a driver from real motorsport will receive either a 60-second stop-and-hold penalty during the race or an 85-second time penalty after the race. The other classes also promise excitement. In the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, SCHERER eSPORT celebrated a double victory at the season opener ahead of Apex Racing. The question is whether the cards will be reshuffled in race two – the answer will be provided in the Goodridge 3-hour race on Saturday. WSR Esports ButtKicker is making a guest start in the GT4 class SP10. The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 will be shared by Esteban Rodriguez from the USA and Konstantin Stolzenburg from Germany. It remains to be seen how the duo will fare against the top dogs from Apex Racing, SimRC (both Mercedes-AMG GT4), BS+COMPETITION or Team Heusinkveld (both BMW M4 GT4). In the top SP3 group, however, there will be no changes to the line-ups. The strong teams at the season opener, SCHERER eSPORT, smillaesport x ENtropy and WolfMotorsportSimracing, will start with the same drivers. NLS moderators Jan Schmitz and Lars Gutsche will open the livestream on VLN.de on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. from the virtual studio at the Nürburgring with a pre-show and a summary of the training. The virtual starting lights will switch to green at 1 p.m. for the three-hour race. LIVESTREAM

Manthey will compete in the 2025 DTM with three Porsche 911s

29.01.2025

All good things come in threes: In the 2025 DTM season, Manthey is expanding its involvement in the series and entering three Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time. Two of the three drivers from the 2023 championship-winning team remain unchanged: Thomas Preining (Austria), 2023 DTM champion, starts his third season with Manthey EMA, while Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) is in his second year with the Nürburgring-based team. New to the team is 19-year-old Morris Schuring, who will compete for the Manthey Junior Team. The youngest Dutchman in the history of the series will make his DTM debut at the season opener in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from April 25th to 27th. The two Porsche works drivers Preining and Güven will remain with the team as experienced campaigners, once again at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R sporting the iconic Grello livery. Güven will continue to compete with car number 90, while Preining will aim for success with the number 91. Manthey will present the design of Schuring's 911 at a later date. “While our expectations were not met in 2024, we were very satisfied with our team performance and are pleased to be represented in the DTM with an even stronger line-up in 2025. In our third season in the series, we want to go on the offensive again,” explains Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. “I am pleased that Ayhancan and Thomas will remain with our team and hope that this year's results will reflect the very good cooperation. Morris had a very successful WEC season in 2024. He is a young driver who has impressed us with his performance, so the next logical step is now the DTM.” Thomas Preining celebrated one victory last year and finished the championship in fifth place. In his fourth season in the DTM, he wants to fight for the title again: “I'm happy that everything stays the same and that we continue to work together as a team. I believe that consistency is extremely important in our sport and it helps tremendously when you can work with the same people over the years. We grow ever closer and we will try to make use of that this year. We have had many great moments together as a team. 2024 was certainly a difficult season for us, but that's part of it and ultimately makes us stronger. Now we are coming back with a clear goal: we want to be champions again!” Ayhancan Güven is hungry for more trophies after his first podium for Manthey EMA in the season finale: “I'm excited to continue competing with Manthey in the DTM in the 2025 season! Last season did not meet our expectations. However, we have improved a lot over the course of the year, especially in the second half of the season, when I was also able to celebrate my first podium with the team in the DTM. That will be our starting point for 2025. I know what we are capable of and what results we can achieve, and our goals are ambitious. Preparations are going smoothly and I can't wait for the new season to start!” For Schuring, competing in the DTM is a dream come true: “The DTM has always been a series I wanted to race in. It's a dream come true, and I'm really proud to do it with Manthey. The team proved that it is one of the best by winning the 2023 DTM title. Last year we won Le Mans together and I am very happy that we are now also working together in a sprint series. I love sprint races and in the DTM I have the chance to really prove myself as a driver. Thanks to my time in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I know seven of the DTM tracks – only the Norisring will be new to me. I am highly motivated and have worked very hard over the winter to prepare myself as well as possible. I am also proud to call Ayhancan and Thomas my teammates. I know them from previous races, both are strong drivers and I respect them very much.”

Industry events with trade visitors from across Europe at the Nürburgring

27.01.2025

The Nürburgring is not only a world-famous race track, but also a versatile event venue. It regularly comes into focus as a location for national and international B2B events in various industries. In the first months of 2025, three major trade events with thousands of expected visitors will be taking advantage of the Nürburgring's attractiveness: EUROTOI, the central trade fair for the mobile sanitation industry, the proWIN New Year's reception as a networking and motivational event, and the JavaLand conference as a knowledge platform for the international developer community. In addition to the various rooms, the organizers are particularly keen on the local accommodation options and the different possibilities for a varied supporting program. Europe's leading trade fair for mobile sanitation systems will kick off the 2025 trade fair at the Nürburgring. More than 600 international trade visitors and around 30 exhibitors will come together at EUROTOI on the ring°boulevard at the end of January to present the latest innovations in the industry. From mobile toilets and sanitary trailers to software solutions for fleet management, the trade fair covers the entire value chain of the mobile sanitation industry. The trade fair is complemented by a varied supporting program: fast laps on the ring°kart track, backstage tours, the ring°werk motorsport adventure museum and the Nürburgring eSports Bar offer participants the opportunity to experience the Nürburgring outside of the exhibition area. Just a few days later, around 2,500 participants are expected at the proWIN New Year's reception. On the second weekend in February, company representatives will gather on the ring°boulevard and in the ring°arena to look ahead to the coming financial year and present new goals and the roadmap for the upcoming 30th anniversary of the company. For sales partners and employees from Germany and neighboring European countries, the Nürburgring will be the central meeting place. The large LED wall on ring°boulevard will once again be an attractive focal point, ensuring an impressive presentation of the content during the event. The B2B triad at the start of the year will conclude with the JavaLand conference, one of the largest events for Java developers in the German-speaking world. In addition to an exhibition area in the ring°boulevard, there will be specialist lectures and discussions in the ring°arena and in the Bitburger Event Center. Workshops will be offered in the Business Center and business°lounge. A total of 150 lectures await visitors, covering topics such as software architecture, security and the use of generative AI. In addition, the supporting program with track walks, backstage tours and driving activities on the ring°kart track allows participants to explore the Nürburgring in a variety of ways. About the Nürburgring as a versatile location for B2B and indoor eventsThe Nürburgring offers corporate customers a variety of modern and flexible event spaces that can be used for different event formats. The covered ring°boulevard impresses with a large LED video wall and is ideal for exhibitions, congresses, trade fairs or product presentations. With many years of experience and a professional team, the Nürburgring offers customized event concepts from a single source that turn business events into unique experiences. All information about the Nürburgring as a location for B2B and indoor events can be found here.

Dream start for AMG Team Apex Racing at the DNLS opener

21.12.2024

The season opener of the digital Nürburgring endurance series was a festival for every motorsport fan. In the RAVENOL 3-hour race, Alejandro Sánchez and Elias Seppänen in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of AMG Team Apex finished just 0.27 seconds ahead. Last year's champion Norbi Kiss and Felix Quirmbach of BS+COMPETITION had to settle for second place. In third place, Sami-Matti Trogen and Vasilios Beletsiotis of AMG Team Williams completed a perfect triple victory for Mercedes-AMG. Apex Racing had two reasons to celebrate, as victory in the SP10 class also went to the virtual racing team from Great Britain. In the Cup 2 and SP3 classes, drivers from SCHERER eSPORT were at the top of the podium. In qualifying, Alexey Nesov secured pole position in the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Pole Promotion Esports, managed by René Rast. However, because he did not maintain the specified speed in the last few meters before the start, race control imposed a penalty. The two AMG teams took the lead and fought a thrilling duel for victory over long stretches of the race. “In the end, we had a little more pace in some sections,” said Sánchez. “We were able to take advantage of that and ultimately take the victory.” Reigning ADAC GT Masters champion Seppänen, who completed the first stint as a real driver, added: “I got off to a good start and benefited when the Porsche received the penalty. We managed to save fuel in the early stages, so we didn't have to make an additional stop at the end. In the end, it got really tight, but Alejandro had it well under control. That was a perfect race.” After 24 laps, pole-sitter Nesov was flagged down in fifth place together with Constantin Tscharf behind the best-placed BMW M4 GT3 of the MAHLE RACING TEAM. Sixth place went to the Ferrari 296 GT3 from Impulse Racing by GTÜ. The two Ford Mustang GT3s from M&J Downforce took seventh and eighth places. The Cup 2 class of the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring was also hotly contested. In the Manthey one-make cup, the two Porsches of SCHERER eSPORT were the measure of all things, as they were last year. Raphael Rennhofer and William Chadwick took first place ahead of last year's champions Luca Alpert and Julian Reimer. Luca Kita and Luis Beilicke rounded off the good team result for Apex Racing in third place. “After just missing out on the title last season, winning the opener today was a dream start to the new season,” said Rennhofer. “The field is extremely strong again this year. It was very difficult to hold our own, especially in the first stint, because you can't get a gap with the slipstream.” Chadwick analyzed the secret of their success: “We managed to handle the tires and fuel the best.” The maximum points in the newly created PEETN Am drivers' standings went to Michael Lerchbacher and Christopher Wolfgruber, who drove the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup to tenth place in the class for Austrian Simracers. The decision in the GT4 class SP10 was only made in the last few meters. On the penultimate lap, Aaron Wazquezz and Maxence Godinho took the lead. In the final lap, they managed to open up a small gap that their pursuers could no longer close. DNLS champions from Season 5, Corentin Guinez and Marvin Strehl, took second place in the Mercedes-AMG GT4 from SimRC, ahead of Lucas U. Müller and Benedikt Hitz in the BMW M4 GT4 from Falken Simracing. “A fantastic start,” said Wazquezz. “We had a good qualifying and were very happy with our race pace. We also managed to stay out of trouble. So, despite a small problem at the last pit stop, we were able to secure first place in the end.” The maiden victory of the Renault Clio in the SP3 went to Sven Winter and Michael Teisch of SCHERER eSPORT. The duo beat Leon Harhoff and Lean Weigel of smillaesports x Entropy and Christopher Limprecht and Merlin Marc Wolf of Wollf Motorsport Simracing. “That was mega fun today,” said Teisch. ‘We had a bit of bad luck because we took a hit on the first lap and our steering wheel has been crooked ever since. Fortunately, this didn't affect the pace.’ The big challenge in the smallest DNLS class – as in multiclass racing in real NLS – is to read traffic as best as possible while still concentrating on your race. Teisch explains: “It's always exciting when a D-train of Cup Porsches or something like that flies past you. You have to drive carefully, but not too much, so that the lapping driver can still see what you're doing. That's not that easy with the Clio, because on the Nordschleife you have an extremely high proportion of full throttle and especially in direct duels in the class you can never let the slipstream tear away. The second race of the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series is scheduled for February 1, 2025.

A gift for the fans: the season opener in DNLS

20.12.2024

The Christmas tree is aglow with lights, biscuits and a hot drink are ready and waiting, and the comfy sofa invites you to linger... Only one thing is missing for complete happiness: thrilling racing in the Green Hell. The time has finally come: the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series kicks off on December 21 with the RAVENOL 3-hour race. At 11:45 a.m., VLN.de will start the livestream and provide answers to the most important questions: How will DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti fare in his debut in the DNLS in the Dörr Esports Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO? How will the Ford Mustang GT3 fare on the Nordschleife during its first kilometers of racing? Can last year's SimRC champions also shine in the GT4 class? And how close will it be in the SP3 with the Renault Clio? While construction work is currently taking place on the real Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the unique asphalt strip that winds so unmistakably through the gentle hills of the Eifel is presented at its best in the iRacing racing simulation. The BMW M4 GT3, Ferrari 296 GT3, Ford Mustang GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3 R are ready to go in the GT3 class SP9 for overall victory. Well-known teams from the real NLS will be competing again this year: Haupt Racing Team by GnG, Mühlner Motorsport/XSmilla, Dörr Esports and Falken Simracing. They will be competing against strong simracing teams such as BS+COMPETITION and the AMG teams Williams and Apex Racing. In addition, esports teams of well-known racing drivers will also be taking part: M&J Downforce with Marek Böckmann and Jan Philipp Springob, Pole Promotion Esports with René Rast and Nürburgring eSports with Marc Hennerici and Andy Gülden. The line-up is rounded off by other interesting constellations: DTM champion Bortolotti will be taking the wheel for Dörr Esports and Benjamin Leuchter will be starting for Falken in the Porsche 911 GT3. It will be a thrilling fight for the overall victory. The Cup 2 class has new features. In the Porsche Esports Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, which is organized by Manthey, there will be a pro and an amateur driver classification for the first time this year, in addition to the normal class classification. What is particularly interesting is that one of the winners of the real PETN, Lucas Daugaard from Denmark, is classified as an amateur in the virtual world for AVIA W&S Racing. Other teams from the NLS are SRS Team Sorg Rennsport, pb Performance by GnG, Halder Motorsport, Scherer eSport and Team75 Bernhard by SimRC. After the entries were received, the organizers were faced with a huge problem: there was simply too much interest in this class, so the teams had to qualify in advance for the 2024/25 season. iRacing allows a maximum of 64 participating vehicles in one race. Even though some of the top teams failed to qualify and will not be able to participate, fans can still look forward to exciting races, because the line-up is fast and, above all, close. The same applies to the GT4 class SP10, by the way. Here, too, the protagonists had to go through a pre-qualification. This was not a problem for Falken Simracing, Dörr Esports and Nürburgring eSports, as well as for the simracing professional teams BS+Competition, Team Heusinkveld and Coanda eSports. Last year's champions have decided to move up to the GT4 class this year. Marvin Strehl and Corentin Guinez will start for SimRC in the Mercedes-AMG GT4. There will be a major revival in the SP3 this winter season, which will be contested with Renault Clio this year. Long-standing NLS fans will remember the years when the Renault Clio Cup enriched the Nordschleife races. Interesting teams will also be competing in the virtual comeback. For example, Tomas Enge Racing, led by the former Formula 1 and DTM driver from the Czech Republic. Last year's VT2 class runners-up, WolfMotorsportSimracing, are competing again. Also competing are RACE SIM Zone, with RCN driver Nadia Brülisauer and the Eifel Racing by GTÜ kart and sim racing circle, who are also planning to compete in real-life Nordschleife racing in the medium term. Presenters Olli Martini and Patrick Simon will open the livestream on VLN.de on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. from the virtual studio at the Nürburgring with a pre-show and a summary of the practice sessions. The virtual starting lights will switch to green at 1 p.m. for the three-hour race.
