Porsche 911 GT3 masters the Nordschleife in 6:56.294 minutes

24.04.2025

The new Porsche 911 GT3 has set an impressive lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Factory driver and Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister completed the 20.832-kilometer circuit in 6:56.294 minutes. The lap was conducted under notarial supervision and with street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. All record drives and further information The vehicle used was equipped with the optional Weissach package and had a six-speed manual transmission. The 911 GT3 is powered by a 4.0-litre high-revving naturally aspirated engine with 375 kW (510 hp). The time achieved is more than three seconds faster than that of the previous model with PDK. Onboard through the Green HellThe record lap of the Porsche 911 GT3 is now available on the Nürburgring YouTube channel. The onboard footage from the cockpit of the vehicle offers the opportunity to relive this fantastic lap. Information about the official “Nürburgring record laps”The following principle applies to all drives: one track, one complete lap, one time – according to uniform standards. In addition to timekeeping with calibrated measuring technology, official record attempts and attempts to achieve a lap time are always accompanied by a notary. In addition to monitoring the timekeeping, the vehicle is also inspected. TÜV Rheinland checks for standard conformity and documents this. The exact length of the track and the start and finish lines are precisely defined. A full lap of the Nordschleife is driven and measured with a flying start (20.8 kilometers). The vehicle categories for record drives and official lap times at the Nürburgring are divided into different segments by the Federal Motor Transport Authority and specially defined special classes.

Full house with aces and kings at the premiere of the ADAC Ruhrpott Trophy

23.04.2025

The first ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy takes place this Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event, organized by ADAC Westfalen and MSC Ruhr-Blitz-Bochum, marks the second of ten rounds in the 2025 ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. The race lineup is literally a full house of aces and kings—the preliminary entry list features 140 entries. And there’s more than just the race to talk about: a variety of topics deserve more than a footnote. The support program also impresses with auto and youth kart slalom, offering variety and entertainment. Tickets for the race are available from €25 at VLN.de/tickets. Admission is free for children up to 14 years of age. For those unable to attend in person, the entire race day will be livestreamed here. Cars from 16 different manufacturers will be driven by 357 drivers from 28 nations, including 17 super sports cars in the GT3 SP9 class. Two teams will be entering the "top class" of NLS for the first time this year. Scherer Sport PHX, which has achieved numerous successes with Audi in recent years, is fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time. “Entering the top class with a new brand is a challenge we gladly accept,” says team boss Ron Moser. “We’ve put a lot of work into preparing our team for the 911 GT3 R. NLS2 is the next step, where we’ll face competition for the first time. The goal is clear: we want to fight for top positions.” Drivers Patric Niederhauser and Patrick Pilet will alternate at the wheel for Scherer. Hankook Competition is also kicking off their season in the Eifel with a Porsche. Pseudonym drivers ‘JK’ from South Korea and ‘Recardo’ from the Netherlands will share the cockpit with Marco Holzer, who claimed an NLS victory back in 2011. Walkenhorst Motorsport has expanded its entry. The team from Melle near Osnabrück is fielding three Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo cars for the second race—one in the SP9-Pro category with drivers Christian Krognes and Mattia Drudi. In addition, Walkenhorst has a treat for fans of British super sports cars: Niklas Abrahamsen and Hermann Vortkamp will debut the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 model, presented last year, on the Nordschleife. Green racing in the Green Hell: Notable addition to the AT classA sustainable project will make its debut at the ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy: Manthey and the Griesemann Group will field the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport M for the first time in the Green Hell. The car will compete on the Nürburgring Nordschleife powered by synthetic gasoline made from methanol. This fuel is produced as part of the DeCarTrans project, a research initiative at TU Bergakademie Freiberg supported by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport. The fuel belongs to the eFuels category and can be used in existing combustion engines without modifications (drop-in). Based on the Clubsport race car used in GT4 series worldwide, the 'M' model features lightweight construction and optimized aerodynamics. Manthey is using recycled CFRP components from a pre-development project with Porsche Motorsport for testing. “Motorsport and sustainability are not mutually exclusive – and together with Manthey, we’re taking the next step this year. Our experience with eFuels, combined with Manthey’s racing expertise, shows that performance without compromise is possible—while keeping the motorsport atmosphere,” says Björn Griesemann, who is debuting the car with his brother Georg. “The trust of our partners means the world to me, and I’m thrilled about our new car. Driving a Manthey Porsche on the Nürburgring is the fulfillment of a childhood dream.” In the AT class, the Griesemann Cayman will face strong competition. The local heroes from Four Motors, including rapper Smudo and Tom von Löwis, have been advancing sustainability in the Nordschleife championship for years. They are fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and two 718 Cayman GT4 CS cars. Max Kruse Racing is entering no fewer than six biofuel-powered racers, including another 911, two Volkswagen Golf VII, a Golf GTI Clubsport 24h, and two Audi RS3s. Giving up is not an option: Robert Wickens makes another attemptLast year, he didn’t manage to secure his permit in time for the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. This year, Robert Wickens is trying again—because giving up is not an option for him. The 36-year-old Canadian, best known to German fans from his DTM years as a Mercedes-AMG works driver, has been paraplegic since an IndyCar crash in 2018. In 2022, he returned to racing in the U.S. in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with a Hyundai Elantra N TCR. His comeback in Germany came in last year’s season opener. Unfortunately, an accident cut his race short, though he escaped uninjured. As a result, he couldn’t complete the required laps for the DMSB Permit Nordschleife. “I tried last year and failed,” Wickens recently shared with fans on Instagram. “Now I’m trying again. I’m racing in NLS to get my permit, so my dream of competing in the 24h Nürburgring this year can finally come true.” Wickens shares the Elantra from Bryan Herta Autosport, equipped with a hand-control system, with American driver Michael Lewis. Spectacular comeback: Ralf Schall is back for moreHe’s one of the most successful drivers in the history of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. Ralf Schall has racked up 105 class wins, putting him fourth on the all-time list in the 49-year history of the series, behind Volker Strycek (135), Johannes Scheid (134), and Daniel Zils (113). The 55-year-old car dealership owner from Dornstadt is making his comeback at the ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy. His last appearance in NLS was in 2022. He will share a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the SP7 class (24h Specials over 3,500 cc) with Julian Reeh and Valentin Lachmayer. On the track, he’ll be racing against his daughter Janina, who is 20 years old and competing with Carrie Schreiner and Beitske Visser in a BMW M4 GT4 for the "Girls Only Team" from GITI Tire Motorsport by WS Racing. Get your tickets now!Tickets for the ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy are available for €25 (free admission for children up to 14) at vln.de/tickets and at the box office. The ticket grants access to open grandstands at the Grand Prix circuit, exclusive spectator areas at Brünnchen and Pflanzgarten, as well as to the paddock, pit lane, and starting grid. The second round of the NLS Kart Slalom Championship will take place in the Historic Paddock at Nürburgring. At the "helicopter landing pad" in the paddock, a round of the ADAC Mittelrhein Slalom Youngster Cup will also be held. Grid positions will be determined during qualifying from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Fans will experience motorsport with all their senses during the pit walk starting at 10:20 a.m. and the grid visit from 11:10 a.m. Also present on Saturday will be the Nürburgring mascot "Legend" and the spectacular Racebot. The race will start at 12:00 p.m.

24h Nürburgring 2025: colorful, diverse, exciting!

29.03.2025

Curtain up for the 53rd edition of the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring from June 19th to 22nd, 2025: The opening event of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) on the penultimate weekend in March was the overture to an epic in many acts at the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife. This year, the strongest GT3 teams, drivers and makes will compete for the coveted 24-hour trophy at the longest race track in the world, which at over 25 km is longer than any other race track in the world. Highlights include the first act in the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers (May 24th-25th) and, of course, the finale furioso in the actual 24h Nürburgring, which is likely to be even more colorful and diverse than before. In addition to the established teams of the German premium manufacturers Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, teams with GT3s from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Ford and Lamborghini will be making their mark this year. The action at the opening race showed that the supposed “exotic” and “underdogs” are in the thick of the action and will have a say in the awarding of the top positions. If you want to secure your box seat for this spectacle, you can do so now. At the NLS opener, a defending champion was initially in the spotlight. Frank Stippler secured pole position in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 from Juta Racing and showed what is still possible in the already somewhat older GT from Ingolstadt. He led a very colorful field into the warm-up lap before the start: eight different brands took the top ten positions in the first NLS qualifying session of the season. Stippler, for example, was joined on the grid by the Walkenhorst-Aston Martin GT3, followed in rows two and three by the McLaren 720S GT3 from Dörr Motorsport and the Ferrari 296 GT3 from Kondo Racing / Rinaldi. Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Porsche lined up behind them – a real feast of what are currently arguably the most beautiful sports cars. In the race, it was the top dogs that set the tone: Porsche achieved a clean quadruple victory, with the two Falken 911s ahead of the Manthey team's “Grello” and the 911 GT3R from Dinamic GT. And of course, the season opener was also extremely exciting in other respects: 22 partly hard-fought vehicle classes, in which everything from production cars to thoroughbred racing cars were represented. A good omen for an exciting season in amateur and popular sports as well – the fans also saw it that way and provided provided a great backdrop for this first show race. Old and new highlights for visitorsEven though there are three months between the start of the Nordschleife season at the end of March and the season highlight at the 24h Nürburgring, fans can secure their personal ticket now. New this year: tickets are available throughout online at the 24-hour ticket shop during the event weekend. With the electronic admission ticket on your cell phone, you can also enter the track. Another new feature for visitors is the option of securing their parking space in advance: there are parking spaces available in the D9 area (near the Nürburg), for which a continuous parking permit can be purchased from Thursday to Sunday parking permit can be purchased from Thursday to Sunday. And the trip to the Ring is worthwhile on all these days! Because from Corpus Christi Thursday (June 19th) they will experience a huge program on the longest race track in the world. In addition to the 24-hour race, the Circuit Challenge power test (Thursday) and the 24-hour classic race (Saturday) will also provide plenty of drama. The Grand Prix circuit will be the venue for entertaining hours with the touring car legend race and the cup and touring car trophy. In addition to the race program, highlights such as the traditional Adenauer Racing Day on Wednesday will also be entertaining. And, of course, the Falken Drift Show will be back on Friday evening, taking place on the Müllenbach loop at the same time as the big autograph session and the pit walk at the start and finish line.

The first corner of the Nürburgring is now called RAVENOL-S

27.03.2025

RAVENOL and the Nürburgring are expanding their partnership. The renowned lubricant manufacturer has been involved with the world’s longest permanent racetrack for many years, and now both parties are taking their collaboration to the next level. Effective immediately, the prestigious first corner of the Grand Prix track will bear the name “RAVENOL-S.” Additionally, RAVENOL owns a VIP lounge at the Nürburgring, serves as the official lubricant partner of the Nürburgring Driving Academy, and lends its name to the “RAVENOL Media Center.” This extensive partnership will run until at least 2028. Spectators at motorsport events at the Nürburgring will now have their eyes on the RAVENOL-S. Located at the end of the start-finish straight, this tight corner marks the first braking point for drivers, setting the stage for thrilling overtaking maneuvers and intense battles for position. With this new naming agreement for the prestigious first corner, RAVENOL and the Nürburgring are deepening their relationship, making the globally active lubricant manufacturer from North Rhine-Westphalia even more present at the Ring. Since 2016, RAVENOL has been actively involved at the legendary racetrack and has continuously expanded its commitment. In addition to the RAVENOL-S, the company’s logo is prominently displayed on the pit wall, the pit building, and as part of a naming-rights agreement at the RAVENOL Media Center. Many participants in Nürburgring driving experiences – especially those in the popular formula courses – are also familiar with RAVENOL as a partner of the Nürburgring Driving Academy. Furthermore, the company holds one of the coveted VIP lounges directly above the pit lane, offering an unparalleled view of the track action in an exclusive atmosphere. “Our first corner is known to every motorsport fan as a guarantee for exciting racing. We are pleased to integrate our long-standing partner even further into this prominent location,” says Christian Stephani, Managing Director of the Nürburgring. “Our partnership with RAVENOL has been growing successfully for almost a decade, and it will continue at least until 2028.” “With partner racing series such as the NLS, DTM, and the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Race, the Nürburgring plays a vital role in our company’s motorsport season. The new RAVENOL-S, along with our presence on the pit wall and, most notably, at the highly visible RAVENOL Media Center, is yet another testament to the strong and long-standing partnership between RAVENOL and the Nürburgring,” adds Martin Huning, Director of RAVENOL Motorsport.

NLS 1 - Falken celebrates one-two victory in front of a record crowd

22.03.2025

What a start to the 49th season of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie: Falken Motorsports celebrated a double victory right at the opening round. Sven Müller and Morris Schuring were waved off in the Porsche 911 GT3 R with a lead of 3.068 seconds ahead of their teammates Dorian Boccolacci and Nico Menzel. But that wasn’t all, as in the end, four sports cars from Zuffenhausen occupied the top positions. The success for Porsche was completed by Ayhancan Güven and Thomas Preining in the 'Grello' from Manthey-Racing, as well as Matteo Cairoli and Bastian Buus in the Dinamic GT Porsche. Around 7,000 spectators attended the 70th ADAC Westfalenfahrt, visiting the grandstands, the paddock, and the exclusive spectator zones at the Nordschleife. Only once in the history of the traditional racing series have more tickets been sold on a single race day. Interest from fans was also high at the free Nordschleife spots for the first race of the season. The first surprise of the day came from Frank Stippler in qualifying: in the Audi R8 LMS from JUTA RACING, he secured the team's first pole position, setting a time of 7:51.530 minutes, driving for the team built around the ambitious amateur drivers 'SELV' and Alexey Veremenko. A colorful brand mix followed in qualifying on the other positions: the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 from Walkenhorst Motorsport, the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo from Dörr Motorsport, the Ferrari 296 GT3 from REALIZE KONDO RACING with Rinaldi, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 from Red Bull Team ABT, the two Mercedes-AMG GT3s from Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed, and the BMW M4 GT3 from ROWE RACING. The second Mustang from HRT qualified in 13th place on its Nordschleife debut. After the start, Stippler initially defended the lead. A brief rain shower between practice and the race turned the opening phase into a tire thriller. At the end of lap one, the Abt Lambo returned to the front. The Dörr McLaren also collected some lead laps, as did the Porsche 911 GT3 R from BLACK FALCON Team EAE, the Aston Martin from Walkenhorst, 'Grello', and the two Falken Porsches. "The start was difficult, as we began the race on rain tires and came into the pits for a tire change to slicks right after the first lap," said Schuring, who celebrated his first NLS victory ten years after his father. 'Gerwin' won the season finale in 2015 in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR from Black Falcon – the last non-GT3 victory. "But that turned out to be absolutely right later on, because the strategy worked perfectly." Müller added: "From P15 to P1 – that's how it's done." Even though he was waved off in second place behind his teammates, Menzel was satisfied: "You couldn’t have a better start to the new season." DTM champion Preining was also glad to have claimed a podium finish in the end. After an unintended spin in the AMG Arena on lap one, the Manthey duo worked their way up from the back of the first starting group step by step. "To finish third after the turbulent starting phase was not something we expected," said the Austrian. "We were on the right tire from the beginning and therefore saved a pit stop." Behind the leading quartet, the ROWE BMW, the GetSpeed AMG #17, the Dörr McLaren #69, and the Abt Lambo crossed the line in fifth to eighth positions. Winners of the Pro-Am class were Daan Arrow, Gabriele Piana, Ben Bünnagel, and Mike Stursberg in the Black Falcon Porsche. Moran Gott is the first 'Driver of the Race'BMW 325i driver Moran Gott is the first 'Driver of the Race'. The Israeli contested the race solo with the vehicle he had built himself over the past six weeks. He wasn’t discouraged by setbacks during the race. A crash was repaired during the race by Sorg Rennsport, who support the vehicle on-site, and a tire failure in the final stages also didn’t stop Gott from being classified fourth in his class. "Normally, I want to be honored when I win," said Gott. "Today, many things didn’t go perfectly – but I still wanted to continue. Being recognized for that does make me a bit proud." The decision on the 'Driver of the Race' is made jointly by the NLS race management, ILN driver committee, and the track announcer. The trophies are donated by the Interessengemeinschaft Langstrecke Nürburgring (ILN). The first victory in this year’s newly created BMW 325i Challenge by Goodyear went to Jonas Spölgen and Eugen Becker. Second place was secured by Juha Miettinen, Dan Berghult, and Oliver Frisse from Keeevin Sports and Racing. Simon Sagmeister, Jürgen Huber, and Dirk Vleugels completed the class podium. Father and son Bohrer win two races in one dayIn the first race of the new NLS Youth Kart Championship, eight-year-old Jonas Bohrer won his K1 age class. Afterwards, he gave his dad strong support – and dad followed suit confidently. In the NLS race, father Michael Bohrer, together with Gerrit Holthaus in the Hyundai i30N, claimed first place in the VT2-F+4WD class.
