In the coming months, the construction machines at the Nürburgring will be back at full throttle. The annual winter construction work has begun. While a total of around 1.3 kilometers of asphalt will be replaced on the Nordschleife, various maintenance measures are planned for the Grand Prix circuit. At the same time, construction of the new exit for tourist drivers at Döttinger Höhe has begun. In total, the Nürburgring is investing 2.5 million euros this winter to prepare the world-famous track for the 2025 season. On the Nordschleife, the asphalt work this year is focused on two sections of the track. In the Pflanzgarten area, 1.15 kilometers of the track will be renovated from the so-called Eiskurve. In the Kesselchen area, 180 meters of asphalt will be renewed in the right-hand bend just before the “Steilstrecke” section. These measures include the complete renewal of the asphalt surface in order to preserve the unique characteristics of the track while at the same time meeting safety requirements. At the same time, extensive maintenance work is being carried out on the Grand Prix circuit and in the adjacent paddock. To ensure that the versatile event areas continue to offer the best conditions for a smooth running of events ranging from the 24-hour race to Rock am Ring and from the Truck Grand Prix to Rad am Ring, drainage channels, cabling ducts, hydrants and shafts, among other things, are being modernized. New exit for tourist driversA key project this winter is the construction of an additional exit at Döttinger Höhe. This measure is intended to significantly reduce the potential for congestion during the popular tourist trips. In the future, on busy days, it will be possible to exit directly onto the parallel L93 after completing a lap. “The schedule for all three parallel measures is again very tight,” explains Alexander Schnobel, the long-standing project manager for the construction work at the Nürburgring. “Just a few days ago, the season finale of the endurance series and the last day of the Touristenfahrten took place here – now the construction machines have taken over the track. The goal is to hand everything over in perfect condition for the new season. As in motorsport, the same applies here: top performance in the shortest possible time, in all weathers.” All the work should be completed by the beginning of March so that the 2025 season can start at the Nürburgring in good time. The Nürburgring had already communicated the event calendar for the coming year in September. The first race will be the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series on March 22. Traditionally, tourist drivers are allowed on the track during opening hours in the days leading up to the race. The Nürburgring traditionally announces these dates, eagerly awaited by Nordschleife fans, in December.

The Nordschleife is getting a new, additional exit, which aims to reduce congestion on the track during busy days of tourist drives. Located at the Döttinger Höhe section, the new exit will allow tourist drivers to immediately leave the track and enter the parallel L93 road after completing a lap. Construction will begin at the end of November, with the goal of finishing the project by the start of the 2025 season. This is one of the most extensive traffic optimization measures ever implemented for tourist drives. Starting next season, tourist drivers will have three options for leaving the track or taking a break. In addition to the new exit to the L93, which will only open on particularly busy days, drivers can continue to use the current Nordschleife exit leading to the adjacent parking area. The popular Pitstop Area at T13 will also remain available for breaks between laps. “We are thrilled to implement the new exit at Döttinger Höhe following the completion of the approval process. It marks a significant milestone for the tourist drives,” says Ingo Böder, CEO of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. “Along with the measures we've successfully implemented this year, this will further reduce congestion during peak times and also ease traffic in the nearby town of Nürburg.” The measures mentioned by Böder refer to the new entry and exit rules for the Nordschleife, introduced earlier this year to improve traffic flow and enhance the driving experience. These rules will remain in effect, meaning that drivers entering the Nordschleife via the L93 roundabout will be directed to the gate, where they will need a ticket or credit. Parking access in this area is now restricted to drivers who have already completed a lap. This change has helped prevent traffic from drivers looking only for parking. The Nürburgring will use the new exit as an opportunity to communicate with tourist drivers about responsible behavior, both on and off the track. Since 2019, the circuit has intensified its efforts to raise awareness among tourist drivers about being considerate of the local community, launching the "Be a Role Model!" campaign. The new exit will also be designed to ensure that drivers merge onto the L93 safely and at appropriate speeds. About Tourist Drives:The Nürburgring’s tourist drives are open to anyone. The rules are simple: anyone with a valid driver’s license and a road-legal car or motorcycle can drive on either the Grand Prix circuit or the Nordschleife. Standard traffic laws apply, including the requirement to keep right. Prices for a lap on the Nordschleife are €30 from Monday to Thursday and €35 from Friday to Sunday and on holidays. A 15-minute session on the Grand Prix track costs €35, regardless of the day. The Nürburgring Family Day will be the colorful highlight of the fall holidays: On Sunday, October 20, fans of all ages can look forward to a varied hands-on program with free admission! But that's not all that's coming up in the next four weeks - on and off the famous Eifel track. The Green Hell Driving Days from October 3rd to 6th, the race of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (October 19th) and the season finale of many tuning fans around the European TimeAttack Masters race (October 27th) are on the calendar. From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the Nürburgring invites you to a family day with free admission and a huge program. Qualifying starts at 8:30 a.m., with the race starting at 12:00 noon. In between, spectators can get up close to the cars and drivers. Europe's biggest e-darts tournament took place at the Nürburgring for the first time. The Deutsche Liga Mannschafts-Meisterschaften im Darts (DLMM) attracted thousands of players from Germany and neighboring countries at the weekend. Two public viewings and the popular tourist drives rounded off the weekend with the typical Nürburgring variety. For three days, the 3,500 m² ring°boulevard was transformed into the Mecca of E-Darts. 420 teams and 3,000 active players from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands competed against each other on over 200 Löwen dart machines. In total, over 1,400 games were played from Friday to Sunday - from morning until late at night. The teams competed for titles and prizes in six different disciplines - from the C-League to the Bundesliga. Among other things, there were two trips to Las Vegas to be won. Only once did the arrows rest over the weekend. The tournament paused on Friday for the EURO 2024 quarter-final match between Germany and Spain. The darts players were able to enjoy an exclusive public viewing in the ring°boulevard on the 45 x 8 meter ring°wall. Public viewing simultaneously in the ring°boulevard and on the main grandstandFor the first time, there were two parallel public viewings at the Nürburgring, which meant another premiere on the main grandstand. While the darts fans watched the match in the ring°boulevard, the DFB-Elf match was broadcast for the first time for all soccer fans on the LED wall directly at the start-finish straight. The Nürburgring opened the BMW M Power Grandstand especially for this event with free admission. Around 2,000 visitors in black, red and gold kept their fingers crossed for the 24-hour race, DTM or Truck Grand Prix. Soccer broadcast and tourist rides on the start-finish straightAnd even if it was just not enough for the German team in the end, all visitors were able to take home a special Nürburgring experience. Because while the soccer match was shown on the LED wall, the tourist drivers drove around the track. For the first time this year, private drivers were able to experience the combination of the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit in their own vehicles during the opening hours in accordance with the road traffic regulations and drove past directly in front of the main grandstand. The Nürburgring is hosting one of the most extraordinary public viewings in the whole of Germanyfor the national team's European Championship quarter-final (Friday, 6pm) . The DFB team's match against Spain will be broadcast on a giant screen directly on the track. The main grandstand at the start-finish line will then be transformed into a black, red and gold fan curve. With free admission, visitors to the covered stands can enjoy the atmosphere almost as if they were in a stadium - and at the same time marvel at the tourist drivers passing by on the track. The national team and the sound of engines: a truly unique soccer experience awaits at the Nürburgring. On Cologne's Heumarkt, in front of the Brandenburg Gate, on the Baltic Sea: there are many special places where soccer fans can experience UEFA EURO 2024. But on the grandstand of a race track? That's new! For the first time, the Nürburgring is opening its BMW M Power Grandstand (T3) for public viewing this Friday (kick-off 6pm) for the national team's match against Spain. Directly opposite is an 80 square meter LED screen on which Julian Nagelsmann's boys will be fighting for a place in the semi-finals. All entrances to the stands will be open for public viewing on Friday. Catering will also be provided: the popular ring sausages will be roasted at the catering stand in the stands, and freshly tapped Bitburger, the official beer partner of the Nürburgring and UEFA Euro 2024, will also be on offer. Admission to the public viewing is free and free parking spaces are signposted in the immediate vicinity. The soccer thriller will be accompanied by the special flair of a race track. The turbulent 24-hour race has only just ended and the next highlight is already on the agenda at the Nürburgring: Rock am Ring, one of the country's most famous festivals, will be taking place in the Eifel in just a few days' time. And the rest of the month is also packed with exciting events.
