The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS lapped the Nordschleife in 6:49.328 minutes - 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3. At the wheel was Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who was intensively involved in the development of the new top model of the 911 series. The lap time was achieved in the presence of a notary. The new 911 GT3 RS is uncompromisingly designed for maximum performance. In doing so, the 386 kW (525 hp) road-legal high-performance sports car consistently uses technologies and principles from motorsport. In addition to the high-revving naturally aspirated engine with racing genes and intelligent lightweight construction, it is above all the cooling and aerodynamic concept that proves the direct kinship with its motorsport brethren. At 285 km/h, the 911 GT3 RS achieves a total downforce of 860 kilograms - three times as much as a 911 GT3. > Rekord drives at the Nürburgring "The 911 GT3 RS was able to prove today what you can already see at first glance - its absolute competence on the racetrack," says Andreas Preuninger, Model Series Manager GT vehicles. "Considering the less than ideal conditions with a strong headwind on the long Döttinger Höhe straight and excessively cool asphalt temperatures, we are satisfied with the time. The 911 GT3 RS sets new standards in the areas of aerodynamics and chassis. There has never been so much motorsport in a road car." The 911 GT3 RS with Weissach package was equipped with the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres in the dimensions 275/35 R 20 at the front and 335/30 R21 at the rear. The new 911 GT3 RS completed the previously used shortened lap in 6:44.848 minutes."Due to the strong, sometimes gusty wind, we lost a little downforce. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with the lap," says Jörg Bergmeister. "Especially in the fast sections, the 911 GT3 RS is in a league of its own. Here the car is on a level that you otherwise only know from high-class race cars. The car also sets new standards in braking. This makes fast laps on the Nordschleife simply a lot of fun." To shorten the wait, there will be an additional 10% discount in selected Nürburgring attractions and restaurants during this time. The Nürburgring kicks off the season. In 2022, the versatile event location will once again offer the entire event portfolio with engine sounds, guitar tones and endurance sports. Finally, the focus is back on the fan experience. At the ADAC TotalEnergies 24h-Nürburgring, the unique party atmosphere will return to the Green Hell for the 50th anniversary, and at Rock am Ring thousands of festival visitors will finally celebrate together again. Those who want to feel like a racing driver themselves this year are also in good hands at the Nürburgring. The training sessions for everyone with the new Formula 4 cars provide unique memories. Despite the different event formats, thrilling motorsport is still the focus at the legendary race track. The racing series and vehicles are characterised by an enormous variety. Impressive race trucks, such as at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix, are just as much a part of the experience as international top-class sport in the DTM or the ADAC GT Masters. Meanwhile, the FIA World RX of Germany is a fully electric event with plenty of power under the bonnet. On the other hand, vehicles from all eras of motorsport await at a wide variety of classic car events such as the AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix or the ADAC 1000-km-Race. Those who prefer to experience racing on two wheels will also find exciting dates in the calendar. In future, participants in the Nürburgring Driving Academy training sessions will sit in ultra-modern Formula 4 cars. With breathtaking cornering speeds and explosive acceleration - from 0 to 100 km/h: 2.9 seconds - they will race around the Grand Prix Track. Everything is built according to the latest safety standards. The Nürburgring offers around 60 courses, ranging from starter courses to professional formula training. This year's construction work at the Nürburgring is being successfully completed - just in time for the start of track operations next week. The final work is currently being completed. 2.5 kilometres of the legendary race track have been renewed over the past four months. Almost every year, Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG uses the winter season for extensive work on the Nordschleife and Grand Prix Track. In the past few years alone, those responsible have invested 12.5 million euros in the modernisation and maintenance of the track as well as in the expansion of the safety facilities. 2.5 kilometres of race track. In less than 4 months. In the middle of winter. As always, the conditions for the construction work on the longest permanent race track in the world were challenging. New asphalt had to be laid on the seemingly endless straight, the Döttinger Höhe. Together with the following fast and demanding passages: Antoniusbuche, Tiergarten and the Hohenrain chicane. Fresh asphalt on the now 95-year-old Nordschleife means: the track is being renewed from the ground up. Powerful machines are removing large parts of all the existing layers. The underlying soil is then reinforced. This is the only way the asphalt can withstand the extreme loads for the next 20 years. "Continuously maintaining around 25 kilometers of race track is an enormous task," explains project manager Alexander Schnobel. He has been working for the track operator for more than 20 years and knows the requirements like no other: "It's not just about new asphalt, but also about maintaining the unique characteristics of the track." For the track construction, the Nürburgring relies, among other things, on a particularly sustainable recycling process. The old base course is first removed, then processed by special machines and finally reinstalled as a new mixture. Just in time for the start of March, the track is now ready: From the Döttinger Höhe up to and including the Hyundai N curve of the Grand Prix Track, there is now brand new asphalt. In addition, further safety equipment was also installed during the construction work this year: 300 metres of new FIA catch fence now stands on the Nordschleife between the Kallenhard and Wehrseifen sections. In total, Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG invested a total of 2.5 million euros in the maintenance and expansion of safety this year. If you add up the measures since 2015, more than 12.5 million euros have been invested in modernisation and expansion. In this way, the operators will continue to secure the Nürburgring as a motorsport and development location in the future - with international top-class sport as well as many other usage formats such as the development drives of the industrial pool or the popular tourist drives. The latter will open the season at the Nürburgring on 12 March with the first barrier opening in 2022. One ticket for the whole year: The 2022 season ticket for the Nürburgring tourist drives is now available. It allows unlimited access throughout the year during the public sessions. The season ticket is valid for both the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix Track. The price remains stable. This year, the gates to the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix Track will open almost 200 times for tourist drivers. With the annual ticket, all these dates are included! The official starting signal for the 2022 tourist drives will be given on Saturday, 12 March. The Nordschleife will be open to everyone for the entire weekend. After that, it's one after the other: almost every day, the circuit will then open for private drivers. The exact times can be found here on the Nürburgring website. The Easter weekend - Good Friday, 15 April, to Easter Monday, 18 April - and the Green Hell Driving Days promise to be real highlights. These will take place from 16 to 19 June and from 1 to 3 October 2022. So anyone looking for the ultimate driving pleasure is well advised to buy a season ticket. It is still available for 2,200 euros and entitles the holder to drive on the Nordschleife and the Grand Prix Track. The purchase process is quick and uncomplicated: Register on the Nürburgring website, select your season ticket and complete the purchase process as usual. Nürburg. The new management at the Nürburgring officially starts their work on January 1st. Nevertheless, Ingo Böder and Christian Stephani have already made an important decision: The prices for tourist trips remain stable - despite inflation and despite increased costs. At the same time, the race track is publishing the dates for the 2022 tourist drives on the Grand-Prix track and the legendary Nordschleife. This also includes the highlight weekends such as the “Green Hell Driving Days” and the Easter weekend, which offer several days of driving fun at a time. For frequent drivers there is still the offer of the season card, which is available from January 11th. "In these times, when so many things are getting more expensive, we want to give the fans of our racetrack a piece of consistency," says the future management of the Nürburgring operating company. The decision in favor of stable prices is therefore also a sign of solidarity in difficult times. In addition to occasional drivers from all over the world, a large community of fans has formed who regularly drive their own vehicles on the track. The rules for driving as part of the tourist drives are very simple: In principle, anyone who has a driver's license and a registered, roadworthy car or motorcycle can drive on the Grand-Prix track or the Nordschleife. The rules of the road traffic regulations apply. This means that, for example, the right-hand drive applies and overtaking is therefore only permitted on the left. A stopwatch is also not allowed to run while driving. These rules define the tourist trips as a ride for everyone and clearly separate them from racing events. From April 15 to 18, from June 16 to 19 and from October 1 to 3, the Nürburgring can be used for several days from morning to evening. With a customer account, everyone can keep an eye on their personal data. Since the lap prices remain stable in the sixth year, a lap on the Nordschleife still costs 25 euros from Monday to Thursday and 30 euros from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. On the Grand-Prix track, regardless of the day of the week, the 15-minute stint is also available for 30 euros. Anyone looking for unlimited driving pleasure is well advised with the season card. It is available for 2,200 euros and entitles you to drive on the Nordschleife and the Grand-Prix track. Until it starts again, the fans have to be patient a little longer.
